there is no great genius

without some touch of madness

y/n's father felt something as he exited the small living room. it was only a small slap on the hand but there was something else as well.

he spared his child a small glance but the door was abruptly closed in his face before he could say anything.

looking down at his hand he smiled, small tears prickling in his eyes. they didn't hate him after all.

there was a small keycard to a room at a nearby hotel.

y/n originally booked it for themself. they may have told others it was a spur-of-the-moment decision but it was the opposite.

they planned everything out from beginning to end. except, of course, the surprise visit.

therefore, already having a place to stay with their brother, they gave him the keycard.

now, hajime had no idea that his younger sibling pitied their father even in the slightest amount. he thought they hated him just as much as he did.

despite hajime's obliviousness, oikawa's observation skills weren't only useful on the court. he's learned to notice small things.

they were usually volleyball signals but this would do as well.

"you alright?" the elder sibling asked. y/n nodded hesitantly before the urge to change the subject became much more clear.

"so, where's the messy room i'm staying in?"

"It's not messy!" oikawa immidatly protested yet was met with two identical deadpan looks. hajime knew for a fact oikawa had used that room as his "man cave" earlier in the week and it would still be a mess.

y/n, despite not knowing oikawa for long, already knew what kind of person he was.

oikawa wasn't the only genius setter staying there.
