i hate being late

but I'm so good at it

after being shown to their room, unpacking a bit, and settling in their bed, the exhaustion of the day finally kicked in.

small thoughts and memories flooded their mind.

despite the need urge to think about their father, the thought of a certain middle-blocker often popped up.

it was a message, of sorts, from the universe to the younger iwaizumi sibling.

they were late to meet hinata.

y/n suddenly bolted up from their bed and into the kitchen, catching both male's by surprise.

oikawa was whining about not being able to braid hajime's hair, while the latter was yelling at him for whatever reason.

"i'mgoingoutbye."

"Are they always like this?"

oikawa asked, genuinely curious. he wanted to get to know hajime's sibling no matter how much time it took.

"unfortunately."

despite their obvious efforts, y/n was not as agile as hinata. nor were they as athletic but they certainly had more intelligence than the short boy.

"HINATA!"

the boy quickly turned around, his once sad expression disappearing into thin air.

he thought his friend had stood him up. he knew he could be annoying but he genuinely thought he could be their friend.

fortunatly, y/n thought the same way. they were grateful for hinata in more ways than one.

hinata jumped down from his seat and made his way over to y/n. noticing his pace, they slowed their own.

"I'm really sorry I'm late, hinata. i got caught up with family stuff and—"

"It's alright!" he beamed cheerily. y/n let out a sigh of relief. they didn't think they could deal with the guilt of hurting someone as kind as him.

no matter how much y/n searched, the boy never had a hint of regret or sorrow when talking to them. or anyone for that matter.

"can i make it up to you?"

"how?"

he asked. his head leaned forward in excitement.

y/n let out a final breath before fishing into their pocket. they pulled out a small piece of paper and wrote something down.

hinata quickly inspected the note once it was given to him.

"Really?"

The sparkle in his eyes almost made you regret not giving it to him earlier.
