with great power comes great electric bills
hinata had taken advantage of this get-out-of-jail card on more than one occasion.
he himself didn't want to but when he told his friends what happened, they (kageyama and tsukishima) insisted that this was a golden opportunity.
despite both of them disliking hinata, this was too good of a chance to waste.
unfortunately, hinata was still too kind-hearted to go through what either of them recommended. so he ended up going with a simpler version: force you to their volleyball practice.
after a few meetings with the boy, he knew you didn't enjoy playing volleyball but he enjoyed your company.
so there you were, leaning on the outer wall of the karasuno volleyball court.
"for the last time daichi, I'm not joining the team!" someone yelled inside. you figured waiting outside the court was best.
hinata knew you were waiting outside but he also knew what his captain would say if he interrupted him.
there was also another surprise to come.
the person yelling at the volleyball captain was none other than oikawa's brother, alex oikawa.
in spite of his brother, he enrolled in karasuno high, told no one about his relation to the 'great king' and managed to keep it that way.
until tanaka and noya opened their mouths.
coincidence after coincidence kept coming. because y/n had been followed by their brother and his best friend.
and once oikawa heard his brother's voice, he took a step back.
and another.
and another.
until he was up from the bushes and sprinting home.
the oikawa brothers did not have a good relationship.
unlike his best friend, hajime approached his sibling. it was obvious hajime was protective over his younger sibling, and for good reasons.
he was older therefore had the responsibility for those younger than him.
y/n thought that's why he hung out with oikawa, a feeling of protectiveness. though, hajime felt a different type of protectiveness over oikawa, it was still there.
before either iwaizumi sibling could speak, the younger oikawa burst past the gym doors and into the path leading to it.
"where's my brother?" he seethed and hajime pointed to the direction of their apartment. alex nodded gratefully and raced passed the duo.
quickly, hinata raced out with yamaguchi, tanaka and noya trailing fast behind.
"iwaizumi!" he beamed and the two turned at the same time. "iwaizumis?" he corrected, though it came out as more of a question.
"hajime and oikawa followed me here."
y/n replied dryly and hinata nodded. suddenly kageyama popped out as well.
"daichi-san is trying to recruit his brother."
"we heard..." hajime sweatdropped, obviously feeling the heavy atmosphere of being in a rival schools' gym. "y'know what—"
as he prepared himself to leave, his younger sibling had a plead in their eyes he had never seen.
desperation.
"don't leave me with these idiots, please."
okay, maybe a little less heartfelt than he thought but it was desperation nonetheless.
"can we put the rivalry behind us for an hour and play 3v3 game?"
the spiker's request startled the karasuno team and y/n. this wasn't what they had in mind when they asked him to stay. they thought he would simply keep them company not invite the most excited group of teenagers to play volleyball.
"that'd be great." daichi smiled warmly, and that was that.
