I waited in anticipation for Charlie and Dave to get home. I didn't know if Charlie would be happy to see me or if he was just ready to tell me how bad of an idea this was. If that kid isn't a fuckin therapist when he grows up I don't know what else he could be.

"Hey, mom." I heard Charlie causally speak when the door open. Dave was just happily smiling the whole time... that cocky smile of his. What did Charlie tell him? What did my kid say about me now?

"Hi..." I trailed off looking at Charlie just run up to his room like nothing had happened, "what's wrong with that kid? He's like 18– but 7. I don't know who he got that from but it was NOT me." I laughed at myself.

"So," Dave definitely had something to brag about. I knew this situation too well, "Charlie tells me that a certain someone wanted to be back together with me the whole time." He cockily cleared his throat with a raise of the eyebrows.

"I. Am. Going. To. Murder. You." I said very slowly and calmly, "Charlie! I need your help!" I called upstairs, laughing, before I playfully jumped on Daves back. He fell back on the couch with me and basically put both of us in a laughing fit as Charlie ran downstairs with his toy gun.

"What mom?!" He said with a laugh seeing Dave start tickling me. I was trying to find some moment to breath but it was impossible with this guy.

"Hey! Let my mommy go!" Charlie said including himself into the fight and pretending to shoot Dave. Of course Dave being the weirdo his is, actually pretended to fall down off the couch and onto his back.

"Oh, Charlie. You hit me... my own son. My own son killed me." He said with his hands over his heart. Charlie threw the gun to the side of him and knelt down beside Dave.

"Daddy when I clap my hands it means that you aren't shot anymore. Because I don't want my daddy to leave me." Charlie carefully instructed. Kids are weird... really fuckin weird. And with that he clapped his hands and Dave sat up with a smile.

"Hey, I'm fine now. Cool." He was being the biggest dork ever right now. But he was in daddy mode. Not my kind of daddy mode, but Charlie's. If you know what I mean.

"Good! Now get the girl." Charlie looked at me with that look in his eyes.

"What? Me!? Guys, let's rethink this. I didn't do anything!" I yelled with laughter as I ran off into the other room. Before I knew it, I was swept off my feet by Dave and thrown over his shoulder.

"And that's 200 points for Charlie and Dad and zero points for Mom. Better luck next time." Dave said before laying me on the bed. I began laughing as both of them laid on either side of me, "I love you guys." Dave whispered.

"I love you too, dad." Charlie softly said before shutting his eyes out of tiredness. It felt nice hearing Dave say those words to me again and it felt amazing to say them back to him for the the first time in forever.

"I love you too, Dave." I said before turning to face him and kissing his lips softly. He hummed in response with a smile before shutting his eyes as well. Wow I just told Dave I loved him. And it was the best feeling in the world.

"Danielle... I have some bad news." Dave said the next morning as I was putting my new earrings in. I had drove by my apartment to bring some things I needed to Dave's house earlier that morning.

"What?" I asked him feeling a bit saddened by the hint of tone in his voice.

"Well tomorrow I have to go to a couple places. Um, I think New York and I think Nevada. A lot of places and I'll be gone for about 2 months or so." My heart wanted to just cry. Sometimes I forgot he was a rockstar and actually did this for a living.

"O-okay. So, did you wanna take Charlie with or do you need me to take him again?" I asked him. He'd been on tour for this long before and I had to keep Charlie at the apartment for 4 months. I knew he hated it. But I didn't want him away from me that long. It scared me.

"That's the thing. I- I want to take Charlie. I want him to see New York City and I want him to see Las Vegas. Dani, I know you scared of him being away that long but I mean come on! He's gonna be with me and a bunch of other people who wouldn't let him out of their sight." Dave said basically begging me to let him take Charlie with. But what would Charlie do when they're on stage. Dave would want to go out and have fun after a show but he couldn't because of Charlie and that would only end up with him making Charlie go with someone random for the night.

"But, Dave I've been with you on tour and believe me I know you want to go out and have fun with your friends and—"

"Danielle! I don't do that anymore. I'm a dad and I've given that shit up so I can be with Charlie. I don't do drugs anymore and I barely ever drink. But Dani just please let him come with. Hey, you can come with if you want to!" Dave said with his hands literally together begging me to let him take our kid to a bunch of different dangerous places for 2 months.

"Dave, you can take Charlie. But I swear if anything happens to him and if you leave him alone for even the littlest things I will have you killed." I said pointing at him with my eyebrows raised.

"Okay, deal! I promise he'll be fine, Dani. I promise okay. You know I love him more than anything and I would never leave him alone. You have my word." Dave said before wrapping his arms around me tightly. I couldn't believe I agreed to this and now I'd be stuck in Seattle for 2 months. Alone.
