"What the hell is Vormir?" Olivia asked obliviously while Izzy cried quietly. She didn't answer, just began to walk. Olivia followed after her.
The purple sky melted into different hues of pink and red and lilac. It was beautiful, Olivia thought. The two soon came to a cliffs edge where a black stature of a man was floating in the air. Underneath his hood, there was a skull that was red.
"Welcome-"
"Shut it, flaming hot cheeto, I know what this place is." Izzy interrupted, holding her hand out to stop him from talking. She was annoyed, angry with herself and also with Bruce who made the error in the first place. Olivia sat on a rock, clasping her hands together and placing them under her chin. She was still clueless as to what was going on.
"Izzy, what the hell is this place?!" She yelled, thrashing her arms about. Izzy couldn't bring herself to say it, but she was going to anyway.
"You get the soul stone from here."
"Okay, how do we get it?"
"God, do you really not know?!" Izzy exclaimed, now frustrated at anyone she spoke to.
"No, I don't! And you're failing to tell me!"
"It's 'a soul for a soul'! One of us...one of us have to die." Izzy dropped to her knees in despair, choking out sobs that wrapped around her throat. Olivia's brows frowned and her lip quivered.
The two sat and whimpered for a few minutes, with Izzy thinking about how this wasn't going to end well for her. She was to either sacrifice herself or watch her best friend die, neither of which she wished to endure. Though she tried to think positively, of all the good things that would be said about her, how Peter would cry about her. Nope. That just made her cry more.
Olivia sat silently, the one moment she didn't want to die she was faced with the chance. She hates imagining Natasha's face, Izzy's face as she breaks the news. Her dad would go on a rampage and guilt trip himself into insanity. Peter would be just as broken.
"After everything we've done, this is how we're repaid?" Izzy choked out, blubbering over her words.
"Do you think Scott was supposed to be sent here?"
"With his taco?"
"It's something he loves." Olivia shrugged her shoulders, letting out a sad smile, but it didn't manage to cheer Izzy up.
"You're an idiot, you know that?" Eventually she chuckled, but she didn't forget the soon tragedy they were to face. A silence lingered for a while, with more of Izzy crying. Olivia stood up and walked towards the cliffs edge, standing by Izzy.
"We both know how this is going down." Olivia sighed, tears brimming in her eyes. Izzy nodded, standing up. The two turned to face each-other, resting their foreheads against one another. Izzy sobbed again with Olivia placing her hand on her shoulder.
"It's going to be okay." Olivia could only speak in a whisper as her lip formed into a frown and a whine exited her throat.
"I know I don't t-tell you this o-often but...you're the bestest friend I've ever had." Izzy cried out, her breathing now getting heavier.
"Don't tell Wanda that." Olivia chuckled through her tears. Their faces now beat red, distraught and devastated. Izzy sobbed again, shaking her head.
"I can't do this, Liv..." Izzy walked away and wiped her tears. Olivia looked over to her and pursed her lips to stifle a cry.
"We're running out of time."
"Screw the time! Screw the stones! Neither one of us is dying today!" She yelled angrily.
