I sat at the bar drinking with Cana as she spoke, clearly being drunk indicated by her red cheeks.

Cana:" *hic* Y/n~ You should totally ask out Erza~."

I slightly chuckled before speaking.

Y/n:" Sorry, Cana, I can't do that."

Cana:" Y/n, that's BS, and you know it.~"

I sighed as I spoke.

Y/n:" Okay, let me explain, I can ask out Erza, but I'm not going to."

Cana:" Why?"

I sighed, looking at the beer swirling in my mug.

Y/n:" Look, Cana, before I joined the guild, I was in love with this one girl, but when I found out she was with someone, I tried to break them up so I could have her for myself?"

Cana:" So *hic* let me get this straight *hic* you were one of those overly aggressive and jealous guys?"

Y/n:" Yeah, and being honest, I'm worried about what I might do if I fall in love again; I don't want to be like that again."

Cana:" Y/n *hic* that was a long time ago; I mean, you've been a part of the guild for about two years now. *hic* I mean, the past doesn't matter anyway; all that matters is the present."

Y/n:" *sigh* I guess you're right."

Suddenly master Makarov lept up onto the bar as she spoke in a loud booming voice.

Makarov:" Okay, everyone, as you may or may not know, the S class trails are coming up, and to all the wizards that have been selected will get the chance to move on and become S class. Now to announce all of the wizards who have qualified this year."

I sighed and put my drink to my lips, taking a sip of my drink.

Makarov:" First off, Natsu Dragneel and Gray Fullbuster."

That was to be expected. I mean, Natsu and Gray were some of the strongest wizards in fairy tail.

Makarov:" Next is Lucy Heartfilia."

Okay, a bit odd, but not too unusual, I guess. I began to tune out what Master Makarov said, not really paying attention to who made it into the S class trails.

Makarov:" And last is Y/n L/n."

I coughed my beer slightly, spilling out as I spoke.

Y/n:" What!"

Makarov:" Now, all contestants will have one month to prepare for the trails and find a partner; good luck, all of you."

I was in shock at what the hell I had just heard. I thought that I wouldn't even be considered for trials, much less selected due to me still being relatively new at the guild. I sighed as I got out of my seat and walked over to Gajeel, standing at the job request board.

Y/n:" Hey Gajeel, want to help me train for the S quest trails?"

Gajeel:" Sure, man."

Gajeel and I went into the forest to get some training done before the trails began.

*One month time skip*

Gajeel and I walked down the harbor to board the ship that would take us to Tenrou island for the trails. I pulled out a pill bottle as I spoke.

Y/n:" You want a motion sickness pill?"

Gajeel:" Sure."

Gajeel took the pill, and the two of us boarded the ship before it set sail, taking us to the island relatively quickly before master Makarov told us what we would be doing. Essentially after we got off the boat, we would have to choose a tunnel, and we would go through it, and we may or may not fight, then we would have to find the grave of the first guild master, after that, we didn't know what was going to happen, but whatever it was it wasn't going to be easy that's for sure. I tried to think of a good plan to pass these trails as efficiently as possible, but my mind began to wonder, no longer thinking about a plan.
