I wasn't meeting with the gang until later today.

I needed a break from the mystery shit.

Even if it was only for a couple hours.

"Atlas!" my mom calls.

I roll over in my bed tiredly, groaning as the sun shined through my windows.

"Atlas! Get up we're going out today" my mom says standing in my doorway.

I sit up tiredly rubbing the sleepiness away from my eyes.

"How long will we be out?" I ask flatly.

"A couple of hours, I'm meeting with a business partner and her family for lunch and I want you and Matty to be there." she says softly.

I groan.

"Mom! I'm hanging out with my friends later today. Just go with Matty" I mutter lowly.

"Atlas Vera! I don't give a damn who you're hanging out with. You're coming end of discussion" mom says sternly.

I roll my eyes, sighing.

"She has a daughter your age so it won't be too bad" she says, stroking my hair.

"Yes, it will" I reply annoyedly, pushing her hand away.

She sighs and walks towards my door.

"Oh, and put something nice on" my mom calls over her shoulder

I sigh and get up getting ready for the day putting on a baby pink dress with white Birkenstocks and grabbing my tote and filling it with the clothes I was gonna change into after this lame lunch.

I texted Kie letting her know that I was gonna be a couple hours late and to fill me in on what I missed when I got there.

My mom took her car and I took mine so that I could go straight to the Château after the lunch.

We finally made it to this snobby restaurant in the heart of Figure Eight.

It was filled with lots of cookie cutter rich white folk.

It made me wanna gouge my eyes out with a spoon.

"Rose!" mom says happily as she spots her business partner.

The blonde lady smiles at her before enveloping her in a hug.

Then I spot the unimaginable.

Sarah Cameron looking at me blankly.

She was the daughter.

My day just got even worse.

I roll my eyes at her and plaster on a smile as me and my brother introduce ourselves to the rest of the family.

Her brother Rafe couldn't take his creepy eyes off of me as I sat towards the end of the table.

Sarah decided to sit across from me looking at me.

"Can I help you?" I ask flatly.

She sighs.

"I didn't know you weren't from the OBX" she says.

I look at her pure confusion lining my face.

"That's literally the first thing I told you." I reply.

She looks at me.

"Let me rephrase that. I didn't know your mom was partners with my stepmom" she corrects.

"Well that's partly the reason why I'm in OBX in the first place" I respond.

She eyes me.

"Look I'm sorry for what I said at the boneyard" she says.
