The sun was blazing down on the three Pogues as they stood near a drainage swamp.

"This is the north drain. It should've gotten washed into the gully. So, if it got flushed out from this drain, it would've been pushed out to, like..."

"—Somewhere in this trash" Pope finishes.

"—Correct" JJ states wiping sweat off his forehead.

"Oh my God. People who use plastic should be shot" Kiara grumbles annoyedly.

Pope gives Kiara a glance.

"Okay, personally, I love plastic. Use it every day. Love the stuff" JJ exclaims pulling up discarded plastic bags from the water.

"Okay well. Hopefully, you recycle it and don't let it flush into the ocean" Kiara shot back.

"I thought you'd say something like that, so... trash bags" Pope replies holding up a roll of black plastic trash bags.

Pope knew that Kiara was all about being environmentally friendly and not polluting the earth.

She was all about saving the planet and hated when she'd see litter or garbage where it wasn't supposed to be.

Her motto was: We have one earth we should be giving it 100%

He loved that she was passionate about saving the planet.

"Did you just proactively protect the environment?" Kiara gushes.

"Maybe" Pope replies.

The two teens share a smile as Pope stares at Kiara longingly.

JJ stared at the two of them awkwardly.

He finally knew how it felt to be the one not in a relationship.

And he absolutely hated it.

"You want me to leave you two alone, or what's going on here?" JJ grumbles.

Pope instantly throws the trash bag roll at JJ giving him a glare.

"Just pick up the trash" the dark haired boy mutters.

"Well that was fun" the blond haired boy mutters sarcastically, wiping sweat off his forehead.

They spent twenty minutes picking up trash in the hot sun and JJ was already beat.

They filled up about five garbage bags worth of trash and still didn't find the gun.

"If it's not in the trash, then it's gotta be in the storm drain." Pope states.

"It's in... it's in the drain" JJ mutters.

"—Damn it" Pope groans.

"—Of course it is" Kiara adds hotly.

"Good thing I brought the crow" JJ says.

"So, are we gonna do, rock, paper, scissors?" Kiara questions.

"—No" JJ cuts off.

"—Or alphabetically?" Kiara suggests.

"—Nah. On three, Pope. One, two, three" JJ states.

The two boys open the sewer gate as Kiara keeps rambling on.

"In the sewer, there's this worm that you get when you're down there. It gets into your blood, and then it has to come out of your pecker. So, uh... that will be a hard pass for me" JJ states.
