Marcus's tall frame came down from the porch as I stare at him in complete shock.

"W—what are you doing here?" I stutter looking at him blankly.

"I've been waiting here for hours I was about to head home before you got here" he replies embracing me in a hug.

I lean my head into his shoulder as he rubs my back softly.

I really missed him.

I hadn't talked to him since I left Charleston and I was a terrible friend for blowing him off.

I pull away and look at him.

JJ was standing right where he was looking at Marcus with a jealous expression.

"You must be JJ. Attie's told me so much about you not much good things" Marcus says with a little bit of sharpness to his voice.

"And you must be.... I actually don't know who the fuck you are. Princess has never mentioned your existence ever" JJ shot back.

My heart instantly fluttered when he called me that. He hadn't called me that in what felt like forever so it felt nice to hear.

Marcus lets out a low chuckle before turning towards me.

"Why haven't you been returning my calls? I've been so worried about you" Marcus says as he strokes my face lightly.

"I haven't been on the best terms with my parents so I'm living here now" I reply softly.

He pulls me into a hug resting his head upon mine.

"God, I missed your face" he says looking at me longingly.

JJ looked as though he was ready to get into his second fight of the night.

"Marcus..." I mutter.

"Hey, let me take you back to Charleston. You don't have to stay with your parents you can stay with me" he says wrapping his arms around my waist.

My head was swimming with thoughts as I stare up at him.

I didn't want to go back.

"No..." I mutter.

"No? Why no?" he questions trying to get me to look at him.

"I don't wanna go home..." I mutter.

I push him off of me as I look at the ground.

My ears were buzzing and I felt bad.

Like really fucking bad.

"Attie... What.?.. I—I need you" Marcus says lowly.

"Marcus, I can't go back to Charleston" I mumble my head spinning.

I felt like I was going to be sick.

"Why Attie? These Pogues have got you all brainwashed into believing that you have to do this. Attie, listen to me, you don't lets go home together" Marcus says trying to convince me to change my mind.

I wasn't going to go back to Charleston.

It was too far gone to try to now.

"No. Marcus... I—I can you— please just leave" I mumble softly.

"Attie... please—"

"—Marcus I said leave!" I yell angrily.

My chest felt heavy as I stare at my best friend as he starts to turn away.
