(I'm skipping to the end of the race because there's no real reason for me to cover it. I would assume you've seen the anime already if you're reading this.)

It was a close call, but Langa won.

They both stood on their boards as the crowds roared. Reki and I ran up to Langa immediately.

"You're so...awesome!" Reki exclaimed as he gave him a hug. "That was seriously dope!"

"Looks like my guess was wrong. You won. You deserved it." I held out my fist and he gave me a fist bump.

"My precious Reki L-2 S!" Reki praised the board. "I've never seen anything like it in my entire life!" He petted it as he swooned over his creation.

I just shook my head at him. "Ah, geez."

"Reki...it doesn't skate itself." Langa told him.

"I know." Reki looked up at us with an adorable smile. "They way you moved it was even more awesome." He stood, then him and Langa did their signature handshake. It was a clap, then a fist bump. Those two just laughed.

"I don't understand how I lost..." Miya said. He was bended over, his hands on his knees and sweat dripping down his face. Reki walked over to him.

"I can explain it to you, if you want. How you failed." He told him. Miya just gave him an angry look.

Do it, Niki.

Now's your chance.

Apologize.

My thoughts were interrupted by Reki.

"The reason we started skating was to have fun." He said.

Miya clenched his fists. "Fun? Sure, I guess so. I think I had a lot of fun, in fact. At least, in the beginning. For a while."

"But then everyone disappeared. And they'll leave you behind when you get good. No one wants to play when you win all the time."

"And then there was Niki." He looked me straight in the eyes. "She brought all that fun and happiness back by coming into my life. When my friends had left me alone, she came in as a role model. A big sister."

"Real nice big sister if all they do is leave you behind like everyone else did. Even with all that, you never told me why." I could see tears forming in his eyes.

I felt like an awful, horrible person. I should've never...

I should've never...

"I should've never have left you behind!" I yelled. It surprised everyone.

"I...I had my own reasons for taking a break from S, but I was the one being selfish and repeating your past again. I've taken time to look back and reflect on my actions, and I just need to tell you...I need to apologize."

"I'm sorry Miya, for leaving you behind when all you had was me at the time."

"I'm sorry Miya, for saying I didn't need you when I really did."

"I'm sorry Miya, for calling you a selfish brat when I was the one who was being selfish."

"I'm sorry Miya, for saying you were just like your old friends said you were, when you aren't. You're more than that."

"I'm sorry."

There was a long silence as Miya and I just stared at each other.

Suddenly, Reki came up and broke the silence by flicking both of us on the forehead. We both held our foreheads in pain.
