The Test

Mitsuki finally opened her eyes. It was dark, and musty, and she could not make out much.
"Ugh," she rubbed her head,"My brain feels like jelly! Where am I?" She asked, thinking she was somewhere in the village. She couldn't remember much after that. "Hello?" She asked again. No response. Mitsuki sighed, and got up. Something creaked underneath her and all she could hear were faint groans and distant clanking. She rubbed her head and frowned, and put her hands out to feel where she was. "Hmm...it's pretty small...and there's a barrel here....what kind of room is this?" She thought. Mitsuki walked lightheadedly to what she thought was a door. After looking for the handle, Mitsuki found a little knob. She turned it slowly, and it let open a creaky wooden door. A warm ray of light flooded the room, and Mitsuki realised she was on a ship. On one table, three people who were playing cards, two people standing up laughing and another one who was doing chores, all stopped immediately and looked at Mitsuki with a look of terror on their faces. Confused, she looked around and wondered what was so terrifying. The water was calm and still, and the smell of fish hung in the heated air. Behind Mitsuki was the man she had seen earlier, glaring at her under his cap. Everything went out of focus. He seemed so angry, and Mitsuki didn't even remeber him. Her expression changed to the same as the rest, a scared, surprised look of shock.
"Aaah! Who are you?" She asked, jumping back a foot.
"Call me.... Captain Plague, Plague for short but that is...much too informal for your pitifully low hierarchy, now you will follow my orders with no further comment,"said Plague.
"Eer-" Mitsuki looked around, more confused than ever before, yet somewhat comforted. A little whisper came from behind.
"Silence!" He bellowed.
"Aye, Captain," gulped the boy who had whispered, a bead of sweat trickling down his forehead.
"Now! Get back to work, you lazy slackers, and Mitsuki, come with me, you will be assigned a number of tests," announced Plague.
"How does he know my name? Wait... he feels familiar..." thought Mitsuki.
They walked onto the bow of the ship.
"Stand here," Plague pointed to the very edge of the ship. He looked at Mitsuki with his tired face, and then sighed. Immediately, he looked up and pushed her off the edge abruptly.
"Wha-" Mitsuki's voice faded away into the sea.

"It must be a test. I'll try and get up." Thought Mitsuki under the heavy cover of the salty, blue sea. Suddenly, a voice came into her head.
"Mitsuki, it's me Rumi again. Are you okay? What happened?"
Distracted, Mitsuki answered, "Rumi? How are you talking to me? And what do you mean, again?" In the meanwhile, Mitsuki forgot that she was sinking underwater.
"Mitsuki, I talked to you earlier, but you sounded ill! I'm so worried!"
"Who are you? Rumi wouldn't talk like this- the test! No! This must be it!" Mitsuki used her magic to try and get up, to try and pass. It was too late. Her lungs were about to burst. She tried to remember what she had done when she fought Lurin, but it was useless, because it was mostly just and instinct. She struggled and twisted in the water, wasting all of her energy. She finally looked up, her eyes glowing.
"Aarggh!" The water split open, and thrusted her upwards into the air. A roaring sound came closer and she went so, so high up in the air, and then fell down and flooded the ship slightly.
"You have....failed the test," Said Plague in an expectant voice," You foolishly let yourself be distracted and manipulated."
"It's- I-"
"Be quiet," he snapped, turning around rather proudly and walking away. "Oh-and, try to remember not to upset the crew, or there will be severe consequences given."
Mitsuki looked around, and each person seemed to show a sign of arrogance. Some were putting their hands in their fists, some were smirking devilishly.
"What am I going to do?" Muttered Mitsuki.
