Later on, the four were sitting in Mitsuki's barn, surprisingly laughing by the table with a cup of tea.
"But you know, people like you and me are hunted for trophies. Horns, mouthparts and such are mostly considered very rare to have, because we are the strongest type." The red haired boy said.
"Strongest type of what?" Asked Mitsuki.
"Oh, you didn't know? Toruko must have forgotten to tell you in the letter.
When coming here, your blood type and DNA determine whether you are different "animals" or have special "powers" but it really depends on what you practice, how you practice, and how much you are affected by the Evergreens. Speaking of, I forgot to introduce myself! My, name is Lurin, and Toruko is my little brother. I'm sixteen, and he's twelve." Lurin ruffled his chocolate hair.
"I'm Mitsuki, and I'm fifteen, and my best friend here is Rumi, and she's fourteen."
"Wait- do you know about the red zone?" Asked Lurin.
"Oh! I think I saw it on Mitsuki's map a while ago!"
Toruko took the map out of her bag and unravelled it on the wooden table with a thud. He pointed to that red skull that Mitsuki hadn't noticed this whole time! Rumi shuddered at the thought of what could.have happened to them.
"It is said that the most aggressive and magically experienced people live there! But first, you need some training. Come with me."Outside, Lurin had set up a target, and took the bow and arrow himself.
"Watch and learn," he told her. Lurin held it straight, pulling his arm back and shot. The target was twenty meters away, yet it land bang on the red circle in the middle. Then, seeing Mitsuki's amazed face, took three arrows and stacked them in a line, and they went flying, and spinning around eachother to then hit the middle one after the other. When he lended it to Mitsuki though, she flinched and shook trying to pull the string back, and accidentally moved when firing. The arrow landed on the grass, forming a small, thin hole.
"Looks like we need a lot of practice!" Lurin chuckled. Then the whole day was spent, until she hit barely the third ring out. When she thought she could try three arrows though, they fell out of her clumsy hand before she could even fire. They packed up in the
evening, and Lurin and Toruko had to travel back to their small hut in the forest. The next day, they met in a small clearing, ready to discuss what they should do. They lay down the map, but Toruko realised something...
"Wait, look! I'm pretty sure that says something in Narkanian! But what? I heard there are secret conjuring rooms under some people's houses, let's go have a look!"
So off they went into the barn to look underneath.
"It's usually around here..."said Toruko, half focused on finding the right place. Then he stopped and frowned at the floorboards, and one by one they lifeted up. His eyes were green too, again. Rumi stepped forward, and fell down.
"Rumi!"
"Don't worry, I'm okay!" She replied.
Some clustering was heard grom above, and then a hand reached up.
"Come see this!"
They climbed down into the room, where they could barely see anything, and found a tall lectern with a book. Something crubled down from above, and created a thick cloud of brown, choking dust. They walked closer yet, and picked up the book. It was old and thick and heavy. Carefully, Mitsuki blew off the dust and brushed it with her hand. Roughly, you could see on the front was written:~Green Magic~
Slowly, she opened the book, and everything seemed to spin. A gust of wind blew around Mitsuki, lifting her off her feet a little. The book slowly lifted into the air out of her hands, turning itself to a page. It stopped suddenly, revealing a page with a sword. In bold, the top of the page read
Excalibur
A long, magical sword embroidered with colourful gems stood firmly in a stone. 'Could it be? This is where it was this whole entire time? But what if-'
Her thoughts were interrupted by Toruko's voice, "That looks like the thing qe saw on the map!" A little set of words written in some other sort of symbols were written down in ink.
