two weeks later

i went to the doctor's a week after i found out i was pregnant. i was three weeks along which meant it happened during mine and tyler's honeymoon. debby went with me as promised which i appreciated more than anything.

i ended up being pregnant with only one baby. i was thankful, because i knew tyler would be upset with one baby so if there was two or three i knew he'd have a cow.

i didn't know when to tell him. there was never the right time it felt. i knew i needed to tell him soon or he'd just find out by himself.

"do you want to go out tonight?" tyler asked me. i nodded happily.

"that's an amazing idea." i agreed. "we can see if maddy and will can watch caroline and noah so the kids can see their cousins."

"sounds like a plan."

i was holding my phone in my hand so i slid it in my back pocket. i was about to make my way downstairs when i missed a step and felt my soul leave my body as i tumbled down the entire flight. this is actually how i fell down the stairs a months ago.

"(y/n)!!" i heard tyler yell. i then blacked out.

tyler's pov

"(y/n)!!" i screamed, rushing to my wife. she fell down the entire flight of stairs.

"are you okay?" i asked her when i finally got to her. she was already starting to bruise in some spots and she was knocked out cold. "fuck!"

i grabbed my phone and dialed 911. the kids were at school so thankfully they didn't have to see their mother like this.

"911 what's your emergency?"

"my wife..she just fell down a flight of stairs. she bruised up and bleeding."

"alright, i'm going to need you to tell me your address."

"21 Clancy Way, Columbus, Ohio."

"is your wife pregnant?"

"i don't believe so.."

"okay, what's your wife's name?"

"her name is (y/n) joseph. mine is tyler joseph."

"alright tyler, there is an ambulance on it's way right now. thank you for remaining calm."

i hung up and sat by (y/n). i checked her pulse and she was still breathing. thank God. i moved some hair out of her face.

the ambulance showed up immediately. they placed (y/n) on a stretcher and rolled her into an ambulance. i rode with her, holding her hand the entire way there.

we made it to the hospital in ten minutes and they rushed her into the emergency room. they had me wait for her in the waiting room.

what if she doesn't make it? what if you have to raise the twins alone? you're unfit as is, so without (y/n) you'd be a lost cause.

stop it. that's nonsense. she'll be okay.

will she?

i waited in the waiting room for twenty minutes. the doctor came out and walked towards me with a hint of a smile on his face.

"tyler joseph?" he asked. i nodded.

"that's me." i replied.

"your wife is okay. a very minor concussion, but the baby was not in any way harmed. it was a good thing you called 911, she was very lucky."

the what?

"o-okay. can i see her?" i asked, politely.

"of course! she's been asking for you."

i followed the doctor to her room. (y/n) was waiting, twiddling her thumbs.

i walked in and when she saw me her face was filled with so many emotions.

your pov

i knew they were probably going to tell him before i could. i hoped he wouldn't be mad. i wouldn't have been able to live with myself if he was upset.

after a few moments, tyler appeared. he had a confused look on his face. he definitely knew.

"thank God you're okay!" tyler said, pulling me into a hug. i hugged back.

"just a minor concussion.." i said.

"i'm so glad it wasn't worse."

tyler sat by my hospital bed. we were silent. there was a topic we both had to discuss but we were desperately avoiding it.

considering i hid it, i decided to bring it up.

"they told you, didn't they?" i asked. tyler nodded. "i was going to tell you but i was worried. you said you didn't want anymore babies."

"i know i said that. i didn't take in the fact that you might already be pregnant. i'm sorry if i made you feel like you couldn't tell me." he replied.

"i just feel bad. i feel bad that i hid it and i feel bad that this is how you found out. i just know that the baby is gonna be a bump in your trench plans and-"

"it's okay. you mean more to me than trench. i just- when i said that i meant us purposely having a baby would unnecessarily stall trench. but you're already pregnant, so it's okay honestly. i'll happily have this baby with you." tyler interrupted me.

"happily?"

"yes. as long as that's what you want too."

i nodded and smiled. tyler returned the smile and held my hands in his. he was amazing. i was beyond extremely lucky to be his.

"so," i started. "i get outta here later today. still want to do dinner?"

"you're up for that?" tyler asked me.

"i'm up for anything if it involves you."
