"Oh, it's spring cleaning day, everyone" said Sam.

She handed Mike a huge rake.

"That's not quite what I had in mind" said Mike.

"But, Sam, don't you know what day it is?" said Jeff.

"Yeah. We're supposed to be celebrating..." Anthony began.

"Spring cleaning day. That's what I said" said Sam.

"But, Sam... aren't you forgetting something?" said Violet.

"Your detailed list of chores and duties? Oh no. I have it here" said Sam.

"But, Sam, this is the day where I always get my very special..." Veruca started.

"Mop and bucket! That's right, Veruca! Now, step lively, everyone. I can't afford to dilly dally" said Sam.

Murray suspected his lovely wife was joking.

"Oh, you fooled us good, my lovely! Now we can go celebrate..." he began.

"Now, enough chit-chat, Murray. This is no time for fun and games. No no" said Sam.

"But it's such a pretty day outside. Almost as pretty as... well, you" said Murray.

"Why, thank you. And it will be just as pretty INside as long as you all do exactly as I say" said Sam.

She pushed her friends into the Fudge Room.

"Now! The theme for this year is Spic and Span for Spring. Rather catchy if I do say so myself" said Sam.

She took her friends to a table and said "Now. When I tell you, you will disperse to your assigned cleaning stations. Mike, Violet, Veruca, you dust, sweep, mop and scrub. And don't spread the soap. You never can be too clean. On the floor, go with the grain. Always go with the grain"

"Violet? You don't suppose this bucket could have chocolate in it? Sam always has buckets full of something delicious" said Veruca.

"No, Veruca. I don't suppose" said Violet.

"And, Augustus, your job is to sweep all the soot out of the chimney" said Sam.

"Thanks for noticing me" said Augustus.

"I beg your pardon, Sam?" said Veruca.

"Yes? What is it, Veruca?" said Sam.

"You always have fudge flavors in your buckets. But this one's empty" said Veruca.

"Only because that bucket is for cleaning" said Sam calmly.

"So your buckets have other uses?" said Veruca.

"On a day like this, of course. Because my fudge is no good for anything but making messes" said Sam primly.

"And eating" said Veruca.

Sam groaned and said "On second thought, Veruca, I believe I shall promote you to supervisor"

"Hey! Congratulations, Miss Super-de-duper-visor!" Mike squealed shaking Veruca's hand.

"How exciting, Veruca" said Violet.

"It is exciting. But what is a supervisor, Sam?" said Veruca.

"A supervisor is someone who sits right here and doesn't cause trouble" Sam explained.

"Well, it's no trouble at all" said Veruca.

"Can I ask you a question, my darling?" said Murray.

"Why, yes! The Wiggles. I've given you the simplest task of all. You're to clean the closet. All you need to do is... organize, sanitize and alphabetize every box and make sure they're neatly placed in right angles on the shelves" said Sam.

The Wiggles didn't think that task was simple at all.

"Now, you have your orders. I expect this place to be spotless when I get back" said Sam.

"Where will you be, Sam?" said Violet.

"Tidying up in the garden" said Sam.

"Outside? Can I help?" said Murray.

"Why, no, darling. I think you should leave it to me and me alone. Now to work everyone!" Sam ordered.

Then she left.

"Oh, but, Sam, what about..." Murray began.

But Sam had already closed the door.

"Easter?" Murray finished sadly.
