Spring Cleaning Future

Oh dear. This is going to be harder than I thought.

Well, I suppose sometimes a narrator has to do what a narrator has to do.

Sam...

Sam...

Sam!

"Huh!? Who's there?" said Sam as she woke.

It is I. The narrator

"What do you want? And why are you talking like that?" said Sam.

Oh! I'm sorry. There's something I would like to show you.

"Hmm. This better be good" said Sam.

I took her to blank pages.

"Huh? What is this?" said Sam.

These are the pages that have not yet been written.

Welcome to your future, Sam.

"Oh, my, it's lovely!" said Sam.

Yes. It's Spring Cleaning Day. You finally got your wish.

"Why, it's absolutely perfect" said Sam.

I thought you might like it.

"Well, where is everyone? Late, as usual, I presume"

Late? Goodness no. They're gone, Sam. Everyone moved away.

"M-moved away? Without telling me? That's ridiculous. I'll go get them right now"

She went to the room where the geese lay the golden eggs.

"Veruca? Where are you, Veruca?" she said.

Then Sam went to the inventing room.

"Violet? Oh, Violet, where are you? I thought for sure they'd be here" she said.

She went to the chocolate room.

"Augustus?" said Sam.

Then she heard the sound of firing coming from the television room.

"Oh! Mike! Mike, it's me! Sam" said Sam.

It turned out the firing was just Mike's television giving out.

And then the wind blew in Murray and Sam's wedding photo.

She hurried to the Wiggles' part of the factory and they were no longer there.

"I don't understand. The Wiggles were so looking forward to..." Sam began.

Spring Cleaning Day was it?

"No. Easter. What have I done? Where are all my friends?" said Sam.

Friends you say? You certainly didn't treat them like friends. Don't you remember?

I'm sorry, but I'm the easter mistress so I make the rules.

It isn't fun! It's easter!

I told you exactly what to do! And you didn't do any of it!

You see, Sam? You never thought about what your friends wanted.

All you ever did was think of yourself.

"No I didn't. Did I?" said Sam.

It looks as though you got what you wanted.

Now you can always have things your way.

"No! That's not what I want! Why... narrator. You said that the pages of the future haven't been written yet. So... does that mean these words can be changed?" said Sam.

She broke down and said "Please! Tell me I still have time to change!"

She cried for a second then said "No. No, it's not too late. I'll be a good friend. I'll go get their special easter things. I'll give them easter. I will! It's not too late!"

But when she opened the box, everything was gone.

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" Sam screamed.
