Chapter Three:

I ran. I ran like there was no tomorrow. I ran as fast as I could, faster than I ever did in gym class. This was a moment of crisis. The white limousine was following me. There was no doubt about that. I muffled a scream in my throat. Those men in the limo were going to do something to me. I just knew. I ran into a park. Oh My God, I’m going to die. The park was sort of empty because a lot of people were going home. The sun was already down and the sky was getting darker. I started to panic.

Suddenly I saw a policeman. He was patrolling the area. I ran towards him and as soon as he saw my distraught face, the policeman knew something was up. “You,” I wheezed “got,” huff “to h-help,” gasp “m-me!” I panted. My heart drummed so fast that I felt like I could get a heart attack any moment.

The policeman had a moustache and he immediately led me to the police car. He held up the radio transmitter and started to say things. I really didn’t understand a word he said because there were some many things running through my mind. Why were they trying to kidnap me? In a white limousine as well! I quickly jumped into the passenger seat and the policeman drove towards the police station. Along the way, I recounted the event.

“And then-” Suddenly a loud crash came from behind the car. I stopped midsentence and  turned around and started screaming. It was the white limousine again, and it made no sign of letting us off easily. “Drive faster!” I shrieked. “Oh my fucking God. They’re speeding up. Holy fudge balls. Cow testicles. Drive the fuck faster!”

“I’m a policeman, I have to go by the rules. Besides I sent backup. Calm down Miss Godberson. Remain calm.”

“What the fuck! This is no time to act like a goody-two-shoes! They’re probably working for the damn mafia. Oh for fuck’s sake. I’m going to die because you can’t step on the gas!” The limousine hit us again and the police car was not taking the impact well. The policeman finally decided to drive to the max. He was driving so fast that I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. My stomach did a flip.

“Back up is on its way!” The policeman yelled. I started to hyperventilate. I pulled out my cell phone.

“Hello?” Thank God, Danny picked up the phone.

“Danny. Okay, call the cops. Like right now. Oh dear lord. This limo was following me and they had guns. They’re going to kidnap me but I managed run, then I met a policeman. Now I’m in a car chase. And it’s not going down so good. I think I’m not going to make it.” I rambled in lightning speed.

“Ok. Calm down Alicia. I’m going to call the cops immediately. Stay on the phone. Everything’s going to be alright.”

“Alright Danny…” I squeaked. I exhaled but suddenly the limousine was catching up to us and it was right next to our car. “Danny. Danny! Are you there!”

“I’m right here, Alicia. You’re going to be alright.” I stared at the limo next to me with shock.

“I love you Danny. Don’t you forget that. You’ve been a good brother.” I said shaking.

Then I blacked out. I only blacked out for a few seconds. When I woke up, the car had a big dent on my side of the door but surprisingly I was still able to move my feet. Sure, blood was soaking on my clothes but I didn’t feel any pain. I felt invincible. The policecar skid to the other lane where it flipped and I felt the seatbelt tug onto me. I screamed a piercing scream. The car had done a 360 degrees flip and I was relieved to find myself alive. We were in the opposite lane where a car was beginning to gain speed. It was quite dark by now and all I saw was increasing brightness in a car’s headlights. In seconds, a four wheel drive smashed right into us. Then, I blacked out for a while. When I woke up, I was in the same position but with more blood.
