Last Snow chapter! Enjoy ;)
When my eyes open, I have to blink a bit until my vision is no longer blurry, and when I do I see two things. Two horrible things.Number one? The first thing my eyes lay eyes on is George, still on the floor. Dead.
Number two? Emma sotting in Williams bed, making him drink a potion.
My head snaps to David before I even speak to Emma, and I see he's also awake, looking confused, angry and fearful. Quickly, he stands helping me stand and not even waiting to see what else Emma is about to do before shouting at the very top of his lungs,
"What have you done? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" And in that moment there is nothing more than fear, anger and hate in his voice. For as she stands up and looks at us, smiling, on the bed William has grown still and if possible even more pale.
He looks dead.
Not my son. NOT MY SON!
"Oh you over react," Emma sighs, using her finger to scrap of some dust from the woodwork of the bed before walking closer, not even stopping to look at her grandfathers dead body. "He's not dead, I cursed him,"
"You said you had no quarrel with him! Why would you do this?" David asks, tears in his voice and his voice cracking. "WHY?"
"My motifs are my own," our daughter says, again talking casually as if the worst that has happened is that a rat or bird has died. "Besides there are more important things for you to worry about I'd expect,"
"Like what?" I ask, looking around the room. It's tidiness reads like nothing has happened but the two bodies say differently.
"Like how your going to stop me of course!" She exclaims, using her hand to smooth her white hair down which is still pulled back into a bun.
"No Emma," I shake my head, smiling and stepping forwards, "We have no intention of stopping you. We intend to save you, to bring back the young girl you used to be Emma because we know deep inside, she's still there," I tell my daughter who looks down at her feet shaking her head. She doesn't reply for a few long minutes before she moves her head up and it's a shock when she does. Her eyes a red and puffy, leaking water.
"Don't you get it mother?" She shouts with pain, "That person, that girl I used to be is gone!" She says, shaking her head.
"We don't believe that!" David argues, "Please Emma, this is your chance at redemption, please we can help you. Just let go of this, forgive us and be that sweet woman you were before!"
"You really don't get it! Either of you," Emma continues, more tears leaking as she screws them shut, probably not wanting to come across as weak. "That persons gone! She died with Killian, she's no longer here and can never return," she informs us, making me bite my lip and shake my head. No. I will not belief that. "And second of each day I've lived since Killian, the father of my child, my true love, died, I can't stop thinking of him. I cannot stop thinking of the guilt he felt, and above all I can not stop thinking of that moment he died, the look of happiness on your faces, and don't deny it, it was there. I can't forgive you! I physically can't! You have to pay for what you have done!" She ends up screaming, her pain and weakness and sadness truly coming out. I have not seen her cry in ages and the sadness it brings upon my soul...
"We are so sorry Emma, but please you don't have to do this!" I exclaim, "Over the last year all we have thought about is our guilt," I tell her, just wanting to hug her and tell her everything's going to be okay. That's what I used to do.
Oh it was always so simple. Until the prophecy. That was the day everything turned upside down.
"Yes I do," she says, her voice taking on a angry, yet happy tone. Shaking her head, she wipes her tears, "And in a few minutes now, I will have my revenge," and when she finishes she actually smiles, she actually begins to look peaceful.
"What do you mean in a few minutes?" I question, my breath hitching in my throat and my eyes going wide.
"Look out the window," she tells us, her smile only growing more and another tear, a happy tear, escaping her eye as she looks out of it. Following her bison I do to and there are no words. None.
For out of the window is smoke. Purple smoke eating the land up like waves in the sea, everything disappearing under it, and worst of all it's nearing the castle. So incredibly near.
"My curse is coming,"
