He had fallen asleep on the couch and woke up from Harry exiting his room. He sat up and looked over the edge of the couch.
"Why are you laying there?" Harry asked."You passed out last night but I wasn't sleepy. I must have fallen asleep watching tv." Louis replied and yawned.
"Okay. I'm going for a run." Harry informed him and disappeared into his bedroom.
Louis got up and walked over to his own bedroom. The bed was neatly made. He wasn't surprised. He went to the bathroom. When he came out Harry had left for his jog so he strolled into the kitchen to get some breakfast. He was itching to get out of the house. They had been locked up here for weeks. Sure, they had been out for walks but that wasn't enough. So the question was, what the hell did you do during quarantine?
He pulled out his phone and started to google while he ate a bowl of cereal. He clicked on a link for luxury cabinets in Cornwall with a sea view and a hot tub of your own. Yes! Cornwall was a five-hour drive from London. They would be isolated but got to see something else.
Harry arrived back home and came into the kitchen to drink some water.
"Pack your bags, Harold! We're going to Cornwall." Louis said excitedly.Harry looked like a question mark so he showed him what he had found.
"Seems lovely, but we're in quarantine." Harry argued."We can be in quarantine there. I have to get out of here. Look, it's five hours away. We have our own cabinet without neighbors and our own hot tub. Come on!" Louis pleaded.
"Fine, but I don't have any swim trunks." Harry smiled.
"You can borrow some from me." Louis replied while he made reservations. "A week?"
"Sure." Harry agreed easily. It wasn't like he had any plans. His schedule was empty for the first time in years. That kind of stressed him out when he thought about it.
"Booked!" Louis grinned.
He jumped up and started to run around in the kitchen.
"Lou? I need to eat and shower first." Harry said in amusement."Yeah, I'll shower too, oh and I have to call El and ask her if she can have the dogs a little longer." Louis said.
They were ready an hour later. Louis had thrown a pair of swim trunks at Harry who caught them.
"Hey! These are mine! I wondered what happened to them.""Please, you have a million pieces of clothes. You haven't even missed them." Louis snorted.
"Yeah? What else of mine do you have?" Harry asked and eyed him suspiciously.
"Nothing." Louis replied but the blushed cheeks gave him away.
"Thief." Harry grinned.
"Memories." Louis mumbled and Harry's smile disappeared.
He walked up to Louis and stroked his arms, gently holding his elbow.
"Memories are in here, Lou. Don't hold on to old clothes and stuff." He said softly and touched Louis' temple with his fingertips. Louis felt overwhelmed by emotions all of a sudden. Clearly, Harry had handled their devastating breakup better than he ever could have. He put on a fake smile.
"Ready to go?""We should pack food." Harry smiled. He still looked worried.
"Thank God we just grocery shopped, otherwise this would have been a boring trip. Off to the kitchen, curly. You're the expert when it comes to food." Louis said and pushed him along.
"You should be grateful I moved in temporarily otherwise you would have starved to death." Harry chuckled.
"Hey, I know how to order in." Louis replied.
"You're turning 30 soon. It's time, Lou. I'm gonna teach you how to cook." Harry said.
"I can cook!" Louis protested and Harry gave him a look. "Fine, not really but I get by."
Harry rolled his eyes at him and started to go through the cabinets. Louis went to get a cooler and Harry packed their food to last them at least two weeks. Louis packed them alcohol to last them at least two weeks. Harry raised an eyebrow.
"It's vacation!" Louis said."Bring painkillers too. I hate being hungover." Harry chuckled.
Louis ran to the bathroom. They packed everything in Harry's car and then they were finally on their way. Things were a little awkward between them again. Why had he admitted that he had kept some of Harry's clothes? He took out his phone.
"Fanfic?""Sure, why not?" Harry smiled.
"Ehm, how about this one? We're both single fathers but have no idea we have adopted twins?" Louis grinned.
"Sounds cute." Harry agreed.
"Remember to treat everyone with kindness but don't let anyone push you around. Listen to your teacher. What else? Oh, here's your lunch and some carrot sticks if you'll get hungry before that, ehm..."
"Dad! Chill! I'm gonna be fine."
"That's so you!" Louis cackled.
"I have a hard time imagining myself as a parent." Harry smiled.
"I don't. You'll be a great dad
someday." Louis said softly."I hope so. It must be tough." Harry replied.
"It is, especially when you never get to see them." Louis sighed.
Harry glanced at him.
"You're doing the best you can, Lou.""Am I though? I'm not living in L.A. I mean, I go there as often as I can, but I honestly despise the city. England is my home." Louis sighed.
"He's happy and he knows you love him." Harry answered softly.
"Yeah." Louis said. He stared out the window for a moment before he returned to the fic.
"We're here!" Louis shouted as he stopped the car in front of the school.
"I can't believe you made me late on my first day!" His daughter Daphne huffed.
"And that sounds like you." Harry giggled.Louis just smirked and read on. Daphne and Darcy found out that they were twins and tried to come up with a plan how to make them fall in love. It was cute.
"Our kids are smart." Louis grinned.Harry's heart jumped in his chest and his stomach erupted into butterflies from hearing Louis saying our kids. Silly. He had to get over that.
"Of course."They laughed their way through the fic and when it was done things didn't feel awkward between them anymore and they spent the rest of the car ride talking.
