I followed Chanyeol's gaze only to turn back around immediately,my face as red as red as EXO's Wolf era uniforms. I could feel the glare of Eric's bright blue eyes burning into the back of my head. His eyes, an ice cold blue were now as hot as laser beams. I felt something hit my leg and looked up to find Chanyeol looking at me, his brows furrowed in concern. "What's wrong, Beth?"
I shook my head, my curls bouncing around my face "It's nothing,"
"So you just space out like that for no reason? Cool." He nodded, accepting my answer as the truth. I couldn't help but smile.
"Something like that." I motioned for him to come closer. "I was actually attempting telepathy."
"Seriously, what's the matter? Your telepathy isn't working, so you're gonna have to say it out loud."
I sighed. " It's just Eric. We've been rivals for as long as we've known each other, but it's never bothered me before. Every time he looks at me today, something doesn't feel right. It's really starting to get on my nerves."
"Clearly, since you've zoned out thinking about it. Cheer up, it was probably nothing."
I raised my eyebrows. "Are you serious? I've known him forever. It's never just nothing."
"Trust me," Chanyeol patted my shoulder reassuringly, "He was probably just doing face yoga to keep himself looking young and fresh for the ladies." He winked seductively and I cracked up. Our classmates and professor turned towards us and shot us nasty looks. One of Raina's friends looks like she's ready to murder us. I guess we didn't pick the best time to socialize. I try my best to look apologetic and the professor picked up right where he left off.
"Honestly, Chanyeol? That comment just made my day. You deserve a trophy."
"A bowl of ice cream will suffice, thank you very much."
As promised, I invited Chanyeol out to dinner where we order pizza and ice cream. We were having a decent time, until Eric sat down a few tables away from us, reminding us of the incident from earlier. I still couldn't get the image of his piercing blue eyes out of my head. I had nearly forgotten about Eric transferring to my university because I'd been in shock that Chanyeol was here as well. (I don't think I'll ever get over that shock). Eric wasn't the type to pay attention to me unless he saw me as a threat. He spent the majority of our childhood making sure he was always better than me, which made the situation even more confusing.
My confusion must've been contagious because soon, even Chanyeol couldn't help but be confused. "Is he bad at making friends?' Chanyeol asked.
"No, he's quite the social butterfly. Why?"
"Well, you said he always wants to be better than you. If that's the case, he might've thought you were more social than him and felt jealous." He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, trying to fit his long legs underneath the table.
I considered the possibility but ruled it out. "I'm sorry Chanyeol. I really shouldn't be dragging you into my childhood struggles when you're a new student here. This conversation seems to be making you uncomfortable, so let's switch the topic."
"It's not the conversation that's making me uncomfortable. It's the fact that he's still glaring at us!" He nodded his head in the direction of Eric's table.
"Well, what can I say?" I shrugged. "Eric always wants to be the best at everything. He probably heard how creepy some of your fans are and decided he wanted to be even creepier." This made Chanyeol smile. We remained awkwardly silent for a short while afterwards. I could feel a blush creeping up my neck.
"Ask me anything." Chanyeol blurted, breaking the silence that hung between us.
"Doesn't that violate your contract or something?"
"I don't know." he shrugged. " But even if it did, who's gonna stop me?"
"Good point." I tried to come up with something to ask him, anything, but nothing came up. The one opportunity I got to find out anything I wanted about Park Chanyeol and the question I asked him was...."Does Baekhyun really like eyeliner or does your stylist just have a fetish?"
As soon as the words were out of my mouth, I realized how stupid I sounded and prayed the ground would open up and swallow me whole. Unfortunately, God did not answer my prayers but Chanyeol didn't seem to notice. He just smiled and started to tell me a bunch of funny stories about the EXO members and their makeup habits. The stories were so funny, I was almost certain we'd not only burnt the calories of everything we'd eaten for dinner, but also toned our abs in the process. It felt so good to laugh with Chanyeol that for a while, I forgot all about Eric and Raina. But not for long.~~~~
So, after a year long break....I'M BACK!!! I'm not even sure you guys missed me but I sure missed you. I hope you enjoyed this chapter and feel free to leave your comments below. All suggestions and criticism welcome. Honestly, I can't wait to start bulding up Raina and Eric's characters. They seem so evil. But are they? Guess you'll have to wait and see. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
I'll try to work on the next chapter and have it done as soon as possible. I wouldn't be motivated to write without all the support I get from you guys, so just remember: even when you think nobody needs you, I need you. :D
