"Miss Scuderi, was that hit on purpose?" Coach Kelly asked, referring to the accident that just occured two minutes ago. I'm holding the side of my head with a palm, trying to soothe the swelling of the bump forming on my forehead. Fuck. It feels like my blood cells are going to burst at any given moment now. It was just a matter of time when.
The Italian beauty didn't look the least bit apologetic. In fact she almost looked proud of herself. Apart from the two strands at the front, her noir hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, reaching her small waist where I notice a pink butterfly belly piercing. On her arm, she's wearing a snake bracelet that reaches down to her jewelled dainty hand.
Actually I wouldn't call her hand dainty, afterall she just kicked a fucking soccer ball to my head with full force.
"I didn't mean to, honestly. Sometimes.." Her light fox eyes looked me up and down, "Accidents happen." She ended.
This bitch just called me an accident.
Coach Kelly sighed in frustration, pitching her brows between her fingers. Obviously she wanted to get this whole thing over with. "Let's just leave it at that, ladies." She said and my mouth gaped open. Leave it at that? She didn't even apologise. Annoyance crept up in my blood. Coach Kelly looks at me, motioning inside the school building. "Go to the nurse's office, Miss Hawthrone. Get a check up, see if everything's alright."
I tried protesting. "B-"
"No buts, I can't have you on the field when you're clearly injured. Now hurry."
I left before my actions got the best of me and I lashed out all my anger on Mia. Coach Kelly didn't bother urging an apology out of Mia.
Oh, to be rich and powerful.
I didn't feel so bad about my situation when I walked in the nurse's office, witnessing the brutality of Darlington students. Most kids here were injured to the point of bleeding. I walked past them, feeling a tinge of guilt hit me in my nerve system when some blond boy who groaned aubily in pain.
One of the nurses that wasn't busy cleaning blood off walls and bedsheets, gave me an ice packet. I couldn't even thank her because she rushed me out.
The bullying here was bad, however the bullying at my school gave these rich snobs a run for their money.
The amount of times I would see kids getting hollered out on hospital beds during lectures was insane. Things got even worse when people snitched. One time two boys tried running over a kid for snitching in the parking lot, they almost killed the poor boy. I wasn't there on that exact day, from what I heard the nerd got away by a thread.
The two boys got arrested and their parents were fined fifty thousand from the lawsuit his parents ordered.
Ridgewood High taught me a lot of things. Sometimes I found myself missing it. Especially the people there and the events the school would throw in honours of celebration. Such as, pie eating contests, balloon popping and yay day.
