A week later.
Headmaster Owen smiled, introducing himself to Stephan and Evelyn. "Your daughter is an excellent student. She's passing every class with high marks. She is truly spectacular. It's an honour to have her at Darlington." I blushed at his praise. I'm happy someone noticed how hard I've been working these past days. It's beena. Struggle just to get past a single day at this Godforsaken Academy. Sometimes I wish I never came here. I think it would've been for the better if I had stayed in Vietnam with dad.
Stephan and Evelyn didn't look the slightest bit impressed.
"Well, of course her grades have to be superb. It's mandatory, or else I would've shipped her in a box to Mexico." He chuckled at his own joke. Everyone around us remained still and unamused. Upon noticing this, he coughed awkwardly in his fists. "I'm proud of you, Autumn. Very." His smile was fake.
Cue the internal eye roll. Sure you are.
My eyes kept snapping to the watch on my wrist. I wanted the night to end more than anything. Darlington holds Galas three times in a year for parents to socialise with other parents and gain some insight in their children's lives. They host the event in the ballroom. I didn't know why I was surprised to hear that there's a ballroom here.
I looked away,, my eyes landing on four figures that emitted clear power and influence. My heart stopped moment my eyes met with his.
I hate how good he looks in an Armani suit. His hair was messy yet his suit was neat. I'm in between slapping him with all my might again, or fucking him on the floor like an animal. Who knew Devils wore suits?
I tore my gaze off him. Focusing on the woman next to him, laughing at whatever her daughter had just said. That must be his Mother. And the Gloomy man next to her was his Father. She was gorgeous, everything about her was. From her diamond earrings to her white gown and angelic blonde locks. Her husband wasn't too bad looking either. He looked like Silas, except decades older. Now I know where he and his annoying sister got their amazing genes from.
While the Mother and Daughter duo laughed and chatted about whatever it is they talked about. Silas and Mr Westbrook silently glared at each other. Two minutes passed and Mr Westbrook finally opened his mouth. Whatever he said caused a jerk in Silas' body.
"Autumnn!"
My neck snapped at Evelyn. She's fuming. If she was a cartoon character, grey smoke would be coming out of her flaring nostrils and ears. "Headmaster Owen called your name at least five times in the span of a minute. Where are your manners, young lady?"
Where's your husband? Oh, that's right. He's talking with a much younger version of you, not to mention prettier version, in the corner.
I wanted to snap at her, to scream and curse her out in front of everyone. I wanted Evelyn Lau to crumble and break into tiny pieces for everyone to witness. I wanted to be the one to cause her downfall, and be the very bane of her existence when she falls off the social standing of Society.
