XXVII
Silas walked me back to the dorms and left after he made sure I got to my dorm room safely. He didn't say a word the whole entire walk. I felt paranoid and on edge. Whenever Silas was quiet, that just meant he's planning something. Whenever he plans something, it's usually bad.
Two days went past with Silas ghosting me. A lightswitch was the best way to describe our relationship. Everytime the light turned on, his crude persona took a 180 for the best. He was all smiles with me and actually would listen to what I have to say. When the lights went off, he'd automatically go back to being the stoic bastard he is.
I knew I was out of line when I hit Mia. Looking back at it now, I had no right. She's his fiance. I wasn't in the right state of mind when I pounced on her. But when she kissed him, her lips tasting the same lips I've kissed twice—I saw red.
Just when I felt like I didn't have to constantly walk on egg shells around Silas again, he goes and fucks it all up. Our progress goes back to zero.
Atticus's voice yanked me out of my daze. I look up at him. "You alright?" He asks me and I don't have a proper answer to that.
With a head tilt and a slight pout on his pink lips, the brunette with light highlights resembled a puppy. His confusion made him look even more adorable. If I wasn't already caught up with his best friend, I'd definitely think of him as more than a little brother. That's all I could ever see him as. He sits on his bed while I'm at his desk, working on the script we're supposed to perform together by the end of next week. I didn't complain about being partnered up with Atticus because he's a sweetheart. However he didn't like the idea of getting work done. He preferred playing video games.
Cameron got partnered up with Amorèt. To say he was disappointed he didn't get Atticus would be an understatement. Between breaks, he kept texting me, complaining about how bitchy Amorèt was. To make things even worse, sometimes the French bulldog would force him to carry her and Mia's bags as they shopped. Cam didn't have the heart to say no. He played the role of their loyal handmaiden perfectly. Just like they wanted.
I gave Atticus a smile. "Yeah. Just thirsty, that's all." I answered truthfully.
He jumped off his messy bed, dropping his console controller on the duvet covers of his expensive mattress. My eyes studied him as his figure approached me. Unlike Silas, his presence wasn't overwhelming. In fact, It was almost... Nice? Comforting, in a way. I enjoyed his presence, really, I do. But the fact he's connected to Silas made me backtrack in my steps. I had to play it safe around him. "Kitchen break." He exclaimed with a grin, exposing his natural bunny smile.
I nodded and stood up. I knew he was using this as an excuse to stop working for a while. I refrained from pointing it out because I needed this break more than anything. Seriously, it's like every single one of my teachers were on a mission to make my life harder, potentially destroying my life.
