Y'honathan's POV
We had taken the agri world not too long ago, it was a simple compliance. All that had to be done was a show of force and an act of diplomacy. I had heard from one of my astartes that Jahaziel had taken Bethel. It made sense for him to take it first, after all it orbited Yerushalaim.
Now my half of the legion and I were in orbit of a hive world. Jahaziel and I were educated on worlds like these, for they were vastly made up of large hive cities. These worlds were often the most populated planets, with billions to trillions of people inhabiting the world. There were quite a few hive cities here, and the rest of the landscape was nothing but wasteland.
Scans had indicated that people, albeit few, live amongst the wastes outside the cities here. We had tried setting up vox communications with the planet, but they refuse to answer us. As a last resort, I had sent a dropship to try and make contact. If they were fired upon, our answer would be clear of what to do with this planet.
Serf: "My lord, we've recieved communications from the rest of the legion" he said while bowing his head to me
Y'honathan: Oh? What has my brother contacted us for? Does he require assistance of any kind?
Serf: Actually my lord, he is asking if you are in need of assistance
Y'honathan: Really now? I would appreciate such a thing, it will make the compliance of this world all the more faster if they turn out to be hostile
Serf: I shall notify him, my lord
I nodded before looking out the window of the ship as the serf walked away. My brother had allowed me to keep the Eternal Crusader to serve as my own flagship. It was a bit strange, he deserves it more than I do, I have no issue serving within it alongside him. Either way, he tends to do things like this at times.
Looking down towards the planet, I could see some of the hive cities from orbit. There was one larger than the rest on the planet by what I've seen. This was the capital without a doubt, I could only wonder what this society was like. But given their isolationist nature, there's a chance that conflict is inevitable.
It was then I heard a gasp near the communications equipment. Turning over, I could see the officer there trying to tune in to a frequency. He seemed nervous at first, something had happened. And it most likely had something to do with the dropship I sent down to the planet.
Y'honathan: Status report, comms officer!
Comms: M-my lord! I've lost contact with the dropship sent down to the world. All has gone silent
Y'honathan: Did they manage to say anything before going silent?
Comms: They mentioned they began suffering heavy fire when approaching one of the cities
Astarte: Father Secundus, I am detecting no life lines from the squad we sent
Y'honathan: Then they're no doubt dead, these people will pay for this. We now know what they intend to do, and we shall respond in kind
Serf: "My lord, the rest of the legion has joined us in orbit of the world" he said while approaching me
Y'honathan: Get my brother here as soon as possible. I need to plan with him and notify of the casualties, something he will not be pleased with
Serf: As you command
Small Timeskip
The entirety of what was the 72nd Expedition fleet was orbiting this planet. Every ship was present, ready to begin the offensive on either my order or my brother's. I was in a chamber with my brother and a few astartes. We were discussing the strategy of how we would begin taking the planet.
