"What's your name?" Sunwoo questioned, wiping away the blood from the side of the boy's face, being as gentle as he could. Making conversation to distract the injured man.
"I'm Jaehyun." He answered, a tear slowly running down his face, Sunwoo took notice of his despair and wiped away his tear, running his hand through the others hair.
"I'm Sunwoo." He replied, smiling warmly for the first time, causing the older boy to smile back.
"I'm sorry that this happened to you." Sunwoo confessed, feeling his own body become tense.
"It's fine." Jaehyun answered, beginning to cry once again. He tried so hard not to, but he just couldn't stop himself anymore.
"It's not fine, they beat the shit out of you for no reason." Sunwoo argued, his tone becoming angrier as Jaehyun let them hurt him.
"It is, I can't stop them can I?" Jaehyun answered, going to wipe the continuously flowing tears, but Sunwoo brought his hand back down.
He had no idea what to say, it was true, no one could stop them.
Sunwoo finished cleaning up Jaehyun before stepping back.
"I don't believe the shit people have been pulling out of a hat." Sunwoo admitted, running a hand through his hair.
"None of it is true." Jaehyun nodded, rubbing his eye softly, watching as Sunwoo nodded.
"I should go." Sunwoo announced, pulling the chair out from the handle.
"Wait!" Jaehyun interrupted, stopping Sunwoo in his tracks.
"Can I have your number, can we talk more?" Jaehyun questioned, a blush covering his cheeks as he became shy.
Chuckling, Sunwoo held out his phone, handing it to Jaehyun who typed his number in.
"I'll message you later." Sunwoo grinned. "Stay safe." He nodded, before saluting himself out of the room.
He walked the opposite way and picked up his bag from his classroom before escaping from the entrance.
He worried for Jaehyun, there was no way he could stay in this shitty town now, he needed to leave. And the more he stayed the more the rumours would grow.
He walked home, he had missed his bus and was stuck walking 20 minutes. He took his time to stop at the bridge, watching as the waves crashed down a level along the violent river.
The wind ran through his hair, pushing it away from his face, letting him see clearly down into the water.
But quickly enough he began to run home, his mother must've been getting worried. He panted through the door and sat down at the table.
"How was school?" His mother asked, putting food on a plate from a heated dish.
"The same." Sunwoo grunted before thanking his mother as he placed a plate in front of him. He began to dig into his food, needing energy from that draining fight.
"Did you hang out with Eric and Juyeon again?" His mother questioned, patting his head before she sat down in her own seat, taking her cutlery and glancing at Sunwoo who nodded at her in response.
"They were boring, like usual." Sunwoo grinned, taking a bite from his food as his mum slapped him on the arm.
"But they're your only friends so enjoy it whilst it lasts." His mother warned, pointing a stern finger at him, her eyes narrowed.
"Sure." He nodded.
Once he was out of the kitchen he went to his room, the childish vibe that came from it didn't fit his personality at all. Since the passing of his father, he didn't want to change it.
He remembered painting the blue walls with his father, joking around and playing a bunch of rock music, since that's all his dad listened to.
Him and his dad took forever to decorate his room, and he never had the heart to change it.
Taking out his phone, he immediately messaged Jaehyun. Noticing the cute emojis he had put beside his name.
It hadn't been long until Jaehyun had replied, but instead of a happy and grateful reply, it was rushed and desperate.
'Please can I stay over at your place tonight? My parents found out.'
Immediately saying yes, he worried for Jaehyun's safety as he came over. Walking out, he ran to his mother announcing how a guest was coming over.
"I'll make him something to eat." He offered and Sunwoo nodded in appreciation, before sitting down, waiting for a knock or a bell.
