Honey we need to talk.

Hayley sounded a breath from her throat before speaking. "Okay." She replied. Any other words were too much, her mind was whirring. She had been waiting for this conversation yet it seemed too soon to speak about it. All the things she had been in the dark about were going to have a light shed on them.

She was going to find out what she was.

She sat down beside her mom, facing her, and moved around until she was comfortable. That was another thing about Hayley- she was a fidgeter. Always tossing and turning and barely sitting still for more than 15mins at a time. She was distracting herself too, prolonging the time before the conversation actually began.

A part of her had gotten used to not knowing and she wondered if it was weird to feel like she was letting go of something.

Hayley paused, finally gathering her thoughts together and spoke, "What are we, mom?"

Natalie hesitated and gathered Hayley's hands in her own, rubbing them gently as she began speaking, "Have you ever heard the name for a female druid?" she asked, staring at her daughter tentatively.

"Bandraoi." Hayley stated. Her brows furrowed, she had no prior knowledge about druids yet when anyone asked a question regarding them yet she instantly knew the answer, "But you already knew I knew that."

Natalie nodded, "Yes. We know more about druids than anyone."

"How?"

"Because we are druids too. We are Bandraois and the only two left in the world." Natalie spoke as if stating a normal fact not completely flipping Hayley's world over.

"I- what? Slow down a sec." Hayley started as she began hyperventilating, she didn't understand. Thousands of questions swarmed her mind as she thought about it.

She was a Bandraoi.

And she had just about no clue what that meant.

"I know it's a lot to process. I was the same when my mother told me." Natalie explained as she continued to rub Hayley's hand.

"Grandma was one too?" Hayley asked incredulously. Everything she knew had just been changed, did she even know her family? They had lied to her all her life.

"Yes and her mother before that. Just let me explain it all." Hayley nodded as she tried to control her breathing, "It all started with the original group of druids, the first of its kind. They all had different powers, some were gifted with healing, others with looking into the future. Overtime they discovered their powers were weak as individuals, useless in helping them fight. They decided to join them in a ritual, merge their powers and gift them to one worthy. That worthy women was our ancestor and passed her gift on through our bloodline. Each generation were given the powers and were expected to protect the supernatural. Through time we have fought alongside werewolves and kitsunes alike to help protect the supernatural."
