Singto

It's been 48 days since Singto got on the plane but it's still sinking in that he now lives half-way across the world. That he's not just around the corner from his favourite pad thai place, can't run to his best friends when he messes up, can't just grab a bike when he's late. It's been a hard transition.

Especially when he's nursing a bruised heart.

The last afternoon with his father, they didn't really talk, just stayed close and held each other tightly, both aware that it wouldn't be the same when they weren't in the same room. Sadly, video chats didn't quite span the distance between them and Singto had to accept that it would just be part of the next two years.

Other goodbyes had been hard too. The whole of GMM seemed to be at his leaving party and Khun Tha had specially chosen a huge ballroom at a posh hotel in anticipation. He'd even shut down the company for the night so that everyone could come and say goodbye. And after six years, Singto had been so grateful for that. But it had hurt to see them all there and know that even if it was his choice, after he left, they would go on with their lives together.

A week before his flight was his last fan meeting; Samoon, Peraya and even YuYu's making the effort to come and say goodbye. That had been in the largest cinema in Bangkok and staff had arranged cameras and mics so everyone could see. The heaps of messages, gifts and flowers amassed in the backstage area had Singto crying so badly that P'Jane had to finish his speech.

Even Krist had swung in for a brief chat with their fans, pasting on a smile even though they were officially: 'Not Talking'.

It had been strained. Uncomfortable like never before. He was sure people had noticed, but he had avoided social media since and he refused to talk about it with anyone.

It hadn't been his choice to leave on bad terms. And it still hurt.

How could it not after eight years as partners? But Singto wasn't going to be the one begging at his door, not when he'd already failed at making Krist see sense.

Anyway, the airport had been weird. He'd kept his flight details secretand there was a moment when he wished he hadn't. Had thought that if he hadn't, a certain stubborn Nong might have shown up.

After hugging his dad, he'd got on the plane with a mouthful of salty tears, and now he was here in a strange city where only a handful of people actually knew his name.

It was.. uncomfortable. Something he'd rarely experienced since he'd turned twenty-one. But it had been his choice, and at twenty-seven, something he'd chosen that was just for him.

So, here he was. Almost alone in one of the most populated and exciting cities in the world. And Krist would have loved it.

Joshua, his roommate (because who could afford their own place in NYC if they didn't want to starve to death), had been yabbering on about some new computer game for the better part of the last hour. And to be honest, while Singto loved games, he just wasn't in the mood.

"Josh?" He interrupted, pressing pause on his controller, "I am going to go and run out to the store for some snacks. Would you like me to bring anything for you?"

Josh grins at him, "I'm gonna run out.. Gun, we talked about this already! You gotta be less formal, man!"

Singto nods, the name Gun still jarring despite it being his own crazy idea. He likes Josh. He doesn't interfere, he likes games and he's helping Singto improve his American English since it turns out he's learnt a more formal British style from his tutors back ho.. back in Bangkok.

"Sure, man." He replies, trying to relax a little, "So you want anything?"

At the corner store (not a 7/11, although there is one nearby) he picks out some beers and snacks to share with his roomie, careful not to go over the budget he's set for himself.

Sure there's money available if he really needs it, but he's still intending to buy a place in Bangkok as soon as he can, as well as save some to invest when he's ready to move into production now that he's stopped acting.

Stopped acting.

A shiver runs down his spine as he thinks about it. It's not exactly his intention to stop acting. He's told everyone he'd like to do both. But here in America, he's not going to be doing anything like that, so for now.. yes he's stopped.

It's been a huge part of his life for so long that he can't help his reaction. It's natural, so his best friends tell him, to grieve for something that's so important to him.

But he knows it's not really the acting he's grieving for.. although that's part of it too.
