Lurick's POV

I held her body close as Revo and I walked through the forest.

"If you're getting tired I can carry her the rest of the way."Revo offered.

"MINE!" I growl,Revo quickly putting his hand up in defense."Just trying to help."He mumbles.I nod, the past few months with out Essence have been pure agony.I tried everything to forget her but it was impossible.And once Revo told me about there kiss my pain switched to anger then to full on rage so this is the nicest I've been to him in weeks.

I turn my attention back to my mate,I study her face to see if anything has changed since the last time I saw her.Her hair had grown and also darkened a few shades.Her beautiful lips where dry from dehydration and her skin was a pale.I was so focused on memorizing her face that I didn't realize we had broken through the tree line and into my pack.Nor did I see the large group gathered around the front gates of the mansion.

"There he is."A guard yells.Instantly everyone crowds around me.

"I told you they did it,"My mother accuses."Those rouges tried to take my boy so he killed her."She say pointing at Essence as if she where a stray dog

"That's what she deserved."Eve chimed in.The crowd shouts in agreement,chanting and laughing.Little did they know the way Essences death would really impact them.

"ENOUGH!"I growl the sound alone ceases the crowd immediately."She isn't dead and if any of you think about touching her you will be."I say glaring everyone in the eye so the felt the seriousness behind my statement.

"Why are you protecting that beast?"My mother questions confused.I grind my teeth together holding back the many replies I wish to give.Instead I glance down at Essence and tuck a small hair behind her ear.She turns her face into my touch,her cheek resting on my bare chest sending the sparks I missed so much.

I lift my head."She is my mate." I announce.There is a long moment of silence but my mother being the drama queen she is passes out but other that that nothing.

"No."Eve mumbles."She can't be s-she is just s-so,so.NO!"she screams and lunges at me or more so at Essence but before she reaches me Revo picks her up by her throat.

"You will never harm your future Luna."He growls as Eve kicks her feet begging for air.He throws he to the ground like a filthy rag doll.She reaches her hand out as she gasp for air,but no one helps her.Eve quickly picks her self up dusting off the dirt from her dress.

"You will pay for breaking my heart Lurick Blaque."She spits as tears stream down her face.

I chuckle "I'm not even sure you have a heart "I laugh back."Now I have had enough of this discussion.Guards please take my mother to her room."They quickly pick her up my father close behind."For the next 48 hours Revo is in charge,if you have any problems go to him.I am not to be disturbed."I order

I make my way to my room laying Essence on the bed.Instantly my mind goes back to the few days before she left me.After she had collapsed from the spell I brought her here and watched her sleep.I couldn't fight the urge to touch her skin even covered in tattoos it was so soft,until I felt the scars beneath.I counted all her wounds as I changed her that night 357,that was the number stuck into my brain.

Her whimpers pulled my out of my thoughts.I pull her body to me and fall asleep with my mate for the first time.
