"Ya alone?"
"I'd feel a lot better without a crossbow aimed at my forehead."
"Said 'r ya alone?"
"Yes"
"Shouldn't be"
"Why? Because i'm a woman?"
"Nah. Being alone gets ya killed"

"Don't worry about what's gone wrong. Figure out how to make this go right." -Glenn Rhee
Everything was finally slowly improving around here, with crops growing and giving us with more food. People would still go out for runs every now and then, but not as frequently as they used to. We have plenty of the essentials here now.
I walked down to the garden and ripped up two little carrots and dusted the dirt as best I could. Maggie was already brushing the horses, and their manes looked much better than the last time I saw them.
Maggie raised her head. "Have they been given names yet?"
I nodded as I fed carrots to both animals. "Glenn and I gave them names. This one right here." I motioned to the chestnut horse. "Glenn gave him the name Bolt." We both laughed because the horse lived up to his name. pointing at the dark black horse "I named her Amethyst."
I'd always been fond of animals, and when I came up with the name, I was rubbing the horse's nose and looked into her eyes; amethyst represents purity of spirit and the purifying effects of suffering. The horse took away all my worst thoughts and lightened my day.
Maggie smiled at the names before asking. "Who is going with you today." She took a brief pause. "To find the governor."
"Daryl."
Daryl would be our weapon if we had any chance of finding the governor. He can track, so if there is a trail, he will be able to find it. Daryl's natural environment is the forest, and both Dixons know it like the back of their hands.
"So you and Daryl?" The eldest Greene daughter asked, a twinkle in her eyes.
Huffing in frustration, I furrowed my brow at her. "It's not like that."
She reacted by raising her hands in surrender. "Whatever you say Harlow."
The group was now gathered at the gate as we said our final 'see you later.'
Daryl and I each had our backpacks packed with supplies for the next several days, and we decided to stay out a little longer than usual to properly scope out all regions
Merle crept close to me, making sure his brother was distracted by something else. "You take care of my baby brotha a'right." He told me, laying his free hand on my shoulder.
"He doesn't need my help, he got it."
"See ya say tha' but I know Darlina better than he knows himself, promise me a'right."
