Second Day of Break

Connor's POV

"No!" I screamed as I shot up. Someone else screamed too. Lex?

I tip-toed to the door and slipped outside, careful not to close it all the way. I looked down the hall to the room the girls were staying in and sure enough Lex was sitting on the floor outside of it.

"Lex," I said walking up to her.

She looked up, her face soaked in tears. "Connor? Sorry if I woke you up." She managed a weak smile.

     "You didn't. Nightmares."

"Yeah, I get that, I woke up screaming from one a few minutes ago."

"What was it about?" I asked sitting down next to her.

"I was standing on this beach. Not sure exactly where it was. I had this sinking feeling that you were somewhere nearby, so I started searching for you and fear settled in.

"I called out for you but there was no response, after a while I found something and ran over to it. I found you, or at least your body. You were dead, but I had the feeling you were standing right behind me. I just kinda sat there holding your body and crying. Then this shadowy guy came out of the water, like the one from my other dreams, and said-" Lex's voice broke.

"I warned you. You didn't listen and now you have lost someone else." I finished.

"How did you know?" Lex asked.

"I had the same dream. I was standing behind you and I couldn't talk. After the shadow guy stopped talking he took his fist and shoved it right through where your heart is, you screamed and I woke up."

     "Wow." Lex breathed.

"You should get some sleep. It's like four in the mourning." I said.

Lex nodded and laid her head on my shoulder. She fell asleep quickly, I was sleeping too soon after.

I woke up to Sam leaning over me. Adi and Hailey were both on the other side leaning over Lex. I gently shook Lex awake and she slowly opened her eyes and sat up. Lex looked around us at Sam and her two best friends.

Her face looked about as red as mine felt. None of us said a word and eventually Sam Adi and Hailey went back into their room.

Lex slipped her hand in mine without looking away from the wall.

I smiled at her but I don't think she saw me. "Lex." I cupped her face with my free hand so she had to look at me.

Lex looked at me like she was working up the courage to say something. She opened her mouth then closed it again, took a deep breath, amd kissed me.

I sat there like a bump on a log for a solid minute. Then my body started to move closer to her as she wrapped her arms around my neck. Lex pulled away and looked into my eyes. Hers were normally crystal blue but had taken on a sun-bleached ocean green with flecks of gold and blue. It was mesmerizing. Lex smiled and stifled a laugh. Her eyes flicked to something behind me and she made a small squeak and rushed into the girls room.

I turned around to see her dad leaning against the doorframe of our room. I could feel the blood rush from my cheeks to the tips of my ears. Uh oh.

I stood up and slipped past him into the boys room. Andrew sat up groggily and said, "Huh?"

"Get up man." I hoped my face wasn't still red. I went to the bathroom and changed into my second pair of swim trunks cause I have a red pair with fire patterned on it and an orange camp pair with a pegasus on it. I was wearing the orange ones. I walked out into the hall where the others were as I shoved my nickel in my pocket and pulled a shirt on.
