First day of break
I packed up my stuff and headed over to Andrew's house to help him get ready.
"Hey, you got everything packed right?" I asked jokingly.
"Yeah, I packed both my trunks. Did you?" Andrew raised his brow sarcastically. His white-blonde hair was matted down as if he'd just gotten out of the shower. That one green stripe stood out like a sore thumb. He wore a marron and onyx jersey with some blue jeans that were faded and ripped beyond repair.
"So anything new with you and Lex?" Andrew asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh come on it's super obvious. We can all tell you like her, except maybe Lex herself."
"We should probably start heading there soon." I tried to change the subject.
"So that's a no. Okay, let's go." Andrew's brow furrowed.
"I love her," I said.
"I know."

I walked over to the group by the car.
"Hey, Connor. You made it." Lex ran over and pulled me into a hug.
"Connor, come here for a second." Lex's dad looked at me.
"Uh, okay." I quickly stepped away from his oldest daughter.
"Connor," Mr. Waters put a hand on my shoulder and guided me away from the rest of the group. "I know you like Lex."
"Oh, um-" I didn't know how to respond. "That's an understatement."
"Let me finish. I know you like Lex, and I know she likes you too. I'm warning you now don't let her get away." He lowered his gaze.
"Are you telling me to go out with her?" I was super confused.
"No, that's your choice to make. I'm just trying to keep my daughter from dealing with heartbreak at her age."
"I wouldn't do that to her." I suddenly felt defensive.
"Not purposely. Right? I know. Back in high school, I was friends with this girl, she had a crush on me. She saw one of my ex's kiss me, and it broke her heart. She avoided me, wouldn't talk to me, wouldn't let me explain, and never smiled anymore. Then she came back around. She had a boyfriend now. We hung out for a while, by the time she left my house I had a crush on her again. What I'm saying is, I missed the love of my life because I let something happen. I have to deal with it every day because my daughter is friends with hers. Don't let that be you." Mr. Waters said.
"Yes sir," I said.
"There's no need to call me sir, it's Kyle." Kyle smiled.

"Connor you're in the back with Lex," Hailey called.
"Uh, okay." I climbed into the back of her dad's van.
"Hailey-y!" Lex turned red.
Hailey shifted to look back at us. "I don't know what you're talking about." Her smirk said she was up to something, but neither of us pressed.
"You really don't want to sit with me, do you?"
"No, that isn't it. It's just, you know what nevermind." Lex smiled. " I think I'll just sleep."
"Okay," I said.
Lex leaned against the car on her side. We drove off and after an hour Lex shifted in her sleep, she lay her head on my shoulder and sighed. I chuckled quietly and lay my head against hers.
