Unexpected Allies

Chapter 6: Teen Titans

Tara's POV

"The new girl... has a certain personal interest to me. I'll explain it to you when we meet up next, but I want you to find out everything you can about her. Understand?"

"Can it get any clearer than that?" I asked him through the comms.

"Go. The green one has almost reached your room now." He said.

I rolled my eyes, "Fine."

I turned around and leaned against my bed with my arms crossed. Garfield knocked.

"Tara?"

"What do you want?" I asked curtly.

He opened the door and peered inside.

"Uh, Robin is back. He brought a friend and Nightwing and Starfire want to give us a debriefing." He told me.

I walked towards him and followed him to the main room.

"So who is she?" I asked.

"Damian's friend? Her name is Manette. She's not a superhero, but she came here for protection. I doubt we'll have to do anything though." He explained.

"Who does she need protection from?" I asked.

"I dunno."

I scoffed, "Well obviously."

He frowned, but didn't say anything as we entered.

I walked up to the girl and examined her. She scowled at me and I smirked.

"Well, she's definitely the type to need protection." I stated.

"Tara!" Cori scolded.

"No it's fine. I get it." Manette said calmly, she looked me in the eyes and smiled softly, but it was a cold smile.

"A girl like me shouldn't be out doing things that a girl like you should be doing. You're the superhero." She said.

I frowned and turned away, "So what did you want to talk to us about?"

"It was going to be a talk, but it's a mission now. Manette, Garfield can show you to your room. We'll be gone for a few hours. Brother Blood is receiving an undercover shipment. We need to be there to break it up." Nightwing explained.

"What is it a shipment of?" Robin asked.

"Chemicals actually. Stolen chemicals and machinery." Nightwing answered.

"What are they building?" Jaime asked.

"That's one of the things we're trying to find out." He said.

Manette's POV

Who does that little blondie think she is?

I grabbed my computer from my suitcase angrily and began to set it up.

I started searching the dark web for 'Brother Blood'. I only found one thing that seemed suspicious and I began to dig in.

Within the next two hours, I had almost broke through to my destination. I found the blue prints for a small machine.

Apparently this thing could suck the life out of three men and give it to one. The experiment was due for later today and if it was successful, the enhanced man should have increased strength, stamina, and life expectancy.

I raised an eyebrow. Illegal human experimentation. That's sure to throw the man back a few steps from his current position, if not shutting his operations down completely.

I walked over to my suitcase and grabbed a card, then inserted it into the computer.

After it downloaded that, I continued to look and I found something else.
