Mason, Cassie and I were busy unpacking the remainder of what was left in my bags into my closet and respective places when we heard the front door open. We froze until we heard a man and a woman’s voice talking.

“You sure you’re okay with this, Naomi? From what I’ve gathered from Cassie is that Ketzia is similar to her. Can you handle two Cassies?” Their laughter filtered through the house. I blushed knowing that I was the topic of the conversation. Cassie looked embarrassed that she really acted so wild and hyper when speaking about me. Mason burst out laughing but smothered it with the back of his hand when we glared at him. He held his hands up in a surrendering gesture.

“Don’t worry, Etienne. I spoke to her over the phone. She seems pretty nice. And responsible. This is a big thing in this family. Yes, they have similarities but it’s nothing that we can’t handle. You’re in this too.” There was shuffling around.

Us teens shared a look of sudden excitement and Mason; followed by Cassie and I ran out the room and down the stairs.

“I hear them coming.” Etienne said chuckling.

“Oh goodness, they’re running. Here we go.” Naomi replied with laughter.

“Hi, mom!” Mason and Cassie shouted and headed towards Naomi with open arms.

“Hi, kids.” She smiled and enveloped them in a mom hug. Cassie and Mason reveled in their mother’s love then pulled out of her embrace turning to their dad who immediately opened his arms and enveloped them in a bear hug.

“Hey, dad.” They greeted.

“Hey, guys.”

They pulled apart and then turned to me. I was standing awkwardly at the kitchen entrance with my hands in my pocket. My head wad bowed and I stared at the floor.

“Well, don’t just stand their! Come greet your parents.” They said and my head jerked up. My what? My eyes widened and then shot to my apparent siblings who had sheepish expressions on their faces.

“I’m sorry; did I hear your mother correctly?” I asked them and they nodded slowly. Naomi and Etienne crossed their arms and cleared their throats.

“You didn’t tell her?” Etienne asked and the twins took a step back. I did too. I could see the Beta in them coming out and let me tell you; it was scary.

“Err, no, we wanted it to be a surprise.” Cassie explained trying to look innocent. It wasn’t working.

“Surprise…” Mason attempted to be excited but it fell flat instantly. They were in  for it and this time I wasn’t going to save them.

“So… you guys thought it would be best to wait until your parents returned to tell me that you guys adopted me?” I asked, my voice sounding angry. Cassie and Mason look like they didn’t know how to answer that but I wasn’t mad. I now had something to rub in Mason’s face. A smile broke out onto my face and I pointed at Mason laughing.

“I told you those shirts meant something!” I screamed and looks of relief crossed their faces. Well, Cassie only. Mason just stared at me.

“I swear you are the weirdest girl I’ve ever met.” He said still shocked.

I laughed, “Well, then I’ll fit in quite nicely with you two now won’t I?” I wiggled my eyebrows and we all broke out into laughter. After it died we looked at Naomi and Etienne. They looked confused at how all this happened.

“I’m guessing you thought I would have acted very differently?” I asked and they nodded smiling. Naomi’s blue eyes shone and she flipped her blonde hair behind her shoulders.
