Jerry had just gotten me home when Cassie came barreling out the door with Mason hot on her heels.
"Where the hell have you been, Ketzia?" She screamed and engulfed me in a tight hug.
"You didn't meet us like you were supposed to." Mason accused and I gave a sheepish smile.
"Sorry guys. Jerry here was giving me a lesson on the history of the pack. I have a new idea for our name though..." I said wiggling my eyebrows knowing that I would be forgiven by the idea of a new name for us. Cassie let me go and gave me a skeptical look. Her blue eyes narrowing onto me.
"What name?" she asked and I shook my head. I was forgiven. That was a given
"I'll tell you guys later." I turned to Jerry, "Thank you so much for today. I learned so much."
Jerry smiled at me and ruffled my hair. "It was a pleasure and I can assure you that there's much more to learn." I smiled as the excitement filled me with the prospect of my training. I knew that wanting to become the Telikos Epsilon was the best decision that I've ever made in my life aside from running away from my old pack.
"I can't wait. I have to speak to you later tonight then. I have to get ready for this dreaded presentation ceremony." I winced as I thought about Cassie dragging me upstairs and having her way with me and the wide variety of clothing and make up for tonight.
Cassie started jumping up and down excited while Mason took a step back wincing.
"Oh, you're finally going to meet all of our friends! We need to get you ready! Like, right now!" She reached for me and I jumped and hid behind Jerry. I peeked out from behind him at Cassie who now stood with her hands on her hips and her right foot tapping.
"What. Are you doing?" she asked and I smiled.
"Hiding from you, obviously."
"We need to get you done! Come here." she demanded and I shrank back.
"No way. Nuh-uh. You have a way of making me look like a completely different person when you have your way. It would be fine if what I ended up looking like wasn't resembling a Barbie doll." Mason snickered and Cassie glared at him which only made him laugh even harder.
"I'm not that bad!" Cassie defended, eyes wide.
"UH, yes you are!" Mason choked out and reached for me. I gladly stepped out from behind my human shield and quickly ran to the safety of Mason's arms. Jerry laughed and turned and walked away.
"I'm taking this as my cue to go. See you later, little novice." Jerry waved without looking back and set off into a jog until he reached his car and got in, then drove off.
Mason draped his arm around my shoulders. "Cassie, I'll only let her go if you promise to listen to what she wants to wear. This is her night. She'll want to be as comfortable as she'd like. Promise?" he asked in a serious voice and Cassie glared off into the distance until she finally gave in.
"Fine, " she huffed out, "I won't glam her out my way if she promises to at least let me pick out the dress and shoes. It won't be out there but I want her to make a lasting impression on the pack. And-" she gave a pointed look at me. "The bun has got to go. Your hair is going hang loose." I opened my mouth to protest but no words came out.
"Why?"
"Because as this night being the official start of your new life you have to start letting go of old habits." she explained and I fidgeted uncomfortable. She had a point.
