Haku and Zabuza were granted Jounin Ranks after 10 tests and interrogations with them.

You leaned on the railing of the bridge beside Sasuke as both of you ate some biscuits. While eating chocolate biscuits, you heard running which caused Sakura to gasp. Naruto finally arrived and greeted you, "Good morning, (Y/N)-san!"

You gave him an enthusiastic grin before snatching the biscuit bag from Sasuke and ate them all yourself. Sasuke gave you a 'why' face and you took another bag from your pocket and handed it to him. "Hn, thanks."

"Hey, good morning, Sakura. What's up?" Naruto greeted, a hue of pink on his face when he saw Sasuke and immediately glared at him. Then, the two started glaring at each other, confusing Sakura.

The two turned away from each other with a hmph as Sakura slouched, already tired with them bickering since the Land of Waves arc ended. She sighed. "Ne, Sakura, want one?" You offered and she was quick to take one with a blush.

You raised an eyebrow, shrugging. More time passed and you were drained by standing under the heat of the sun. "Hey, guys. Good morning. Afraid I got lost on the path of life." Kakashi greets, standing on the top of a gate-looking thing.

"YOU'RE LATE!" Sakura and Naruto yell in unison. "I'm ready for the next ninja mission, sensei. And hey, come on. No more of this dumb beginner stuff, okay? I want a chance to prove myself. I'm talking a real mission, where I could show what I'm made of. I gotta break out and burn it up! See?" Naruto demanded, fire in his eyes.

No, literally. There was fire in his eyes. And it was increasing the more excitement he felt. Heck, there was even fire behind him. "Is it just me or am I seeing fire behind Naruto?" You asked but Sasuke shrugs and told you it was just you.

"Uh, right. I get it. That's great, Naruto. Now, take it easy, would you?" Kakashi suggests and the fire disappeared as Naruto snarled at Sasuke, his eyebrow twitching. Same with Sakura but instead, she was disappointed in Naruto.

Naruto then had a short day-dream of him saving minorly hurt Sasuke with sparkles around him, as he showed the non-existent beauty he ever had. And yes, the fire reappeared. "Believe it!"

You deadpanned, turning to Kakashi who you turned your back on earlier. "Hey, don't you see it? I mean, I literally saw him day-dream and the fire behind him and in his eyes." Kakashi shook his head no. "You're delusional but thinking about it..., Naruto does tend to do stupid things and imagine them so it's believable."

He then tells Naruto, "Let us know when you're done fantasizing, Naruto, so we can start the mission, all right?" The fire disappeared — again, and Naruto was back on track. "Right!"

"Could you not be so annoying, Naruto, just for once?" Sakura asked.

Time passed and your team and you were picking weed in a middle-aged woman's garden. You warned Naruto about the differences of herbs and weed and told him to give you the weed for.. research purposes.

Albeit, Naruto was slacking off at the first part but listened in at the second part. "Well, I'm gonna beat Sasuke anyway." He said and started pulling out everything and the garden was empty. Except for Sasuke, Sakura and your side. And the grass.

"Hey, you." A voice called out. "Huh? Oh. Hi, lady. I got rid of all your weeds. Pretty cool huh?" Naruto brags. You could tell the lady was shaking in anger. "Uh, what's wrong?"

The lady replied, "You pulled the weeds, and you also pulled up my plants." Naruto was puzzled as she continued, "Those were special herbs I've been growing, and you destroyed them!" He then got a well-deserved beating.

The next mission was picking up trash from the river while Kakashi and you sat under the shade of a tree. Then, you heard Naruto yelp and sensed he was in danger. Luckily, Sasuke came to save him from falling down the waterfall.

"You are such a loser." Sasuke says, enraging Naruto. "Thank goodness," You trudge through the water without falling using chakra balancing. "You're okay."

"Hey! Hey! Not there. We're supposed to go the other way!" Third mission was to walk some dogs and of course, Naruto chose the big one. "Hey! I'm talking to you! Gaah! Damn it!"

Meanwhile, the three of you chose puppies. "What a loser." Sasuke stated. "Of course! He just has to choose the biggest dog."You wheezed, seeing the dog leading Naruto to a minefield.

On a tree branch, Kakashi read his book. "That's not a place for dogs! That's a minefield!" Naruto warned as explosives went off. Sasuke and Sakura sighed dramatically while you giggled at a burnt Naruto sitting on the ground.

You told your team you'd be right back with them after checking up on the duo and taking care of business. Although, you came back to them being threatened and a tacky face painted mf holding Konohamaru up by his scarf.

"So does this hurt, punk?" Konohamaru grunted. "Put him down, Kankuro. Or you know you'll pay for it later." Temari scolded. "Hey, I'm sorry. The whole thing was my fault." Sakura apologized while you stayed behind a tree, where Gaara and Sasuke would appear.

Still having important business to finish, you went away.

Inside the hokage building, Jounins, Chūnins and the Hokage and you were in a room. "I have summoned you for a very important purpose. Seeing your fellow Jounin here, I'm sure you realize what this is about." You toyed with a strand of your hair, waving hello to Zabuza and Haku.

"So soon? I thought we'd have a little more time.", Kakashi spoke up. "I take it all the other lands have been notified about the coming event. I noticed some of their Genin have already arrived here in the village.", Asuma seemed annoyed and this made you more excited to learn about it — actually, no. You already did attend it once but you wanted to know how it'd be like this year. "And when do we start?" Kurenai asked.

"We will begin in one week," You and the hokage said in unison as Kakashi perked up, "That's pretty short notice." Hiruzen took out his pipe, exhaling loudly as smoke came out his mouth. "Take heed. Exactly seven days from today, on the first day of July,  the genin will be gathered and tested. Only the very best will be selected as Jounin."
