Chapter 13: Your courage

3rd person PoV
The sun arose to greet the next morning once again. Y/N, having gained a new attitude and outlook thanks to the previous day's events, was continuing her duties being a representative of the Emilia camp/Roswaal household. This of course being the making of her weekly visit to the local village and greeting its children once again. They seemed to like her and Subaru alike. Though, Subaru did have to be preoccupied this time by Ram and Rem. This was not an opportunity for him to slack off and they made sure to remind him of such.

In saying that however, to Y/N this wasn't any normal trip. Through Beatrice's guidance, she had figured out that whoever this Shaman that had cursed both her and Subaru, lay at the foot of the mountains. Thus meaning that they must be a citizen of this village specifically.

Alright, time to test this theory... she thought.

Y/N: "Good job everyone! I thank you for taking part in this knightly exercise."

Villagers: "Thank you Madam Y/N!"

Ok, now for the final part.

Y/N went around giving each villager a high-five for taking part. This was all part of her test. Suddenly, the village kids, enthralled with excitement, leapt over to her like a stampede of wilder beasts.

"That was so cool Y/N!"

"When I grow up, I'm gonna be a knight of Lagunica just like you!"

The said knight chuckled and response.

Y/N: "Well, for one, I am still a knight in training by technicality and two, I wish you luck with that. It isn't as easy as you think y'know?"

"I'm still gonna try!"

Y/N: "Go for it! Who am I to stop ya kid?"

With that she gave each of them a high five as well.

Ok, everyone has touched me now.

Subaru: "Oi Y/N! Got a bit of a situation over here!"

Oh?

Y/N:"I'll be right there!"

Y/N PoV
Heeding Subaru's words, I jogged over to his position curious as to what was going on. There, I was greeted by one of the young girls of the village with a seemingly anxious look plastered on her face.

Y/N: "Heya! What's up kiddo?"

Tugging on my sleeve, she pointed towards the entrance of the nearby forest. My eyes travelled towards it assuming she wanted me to go over there. She ran towards the fence with me slowly following in her direction. Reaching the fence she stopped still and crouched down to pick up the tiny yet recognisable puppy that came running through it.

Subaru: "Ah that's right, there was an event like this before..." he whispered behind me.

I crouched down to greet the little creature though it growled in despise of me. Sighing because he knew what would happen, Subaru followed and did the same thing. We petted the dog and prepared for the worst.

Y/N and Subaru: "YOUCH!"

The dog had bitten the both of us in nearly the exact same places.
