I looked at the picture she threw in front of us. It was a picture of a red-head and a brunette in front of the Camp Nightwing sign. I knew it was C. Burman and her sister but I wasn't sure which one was her. She began to tell us her experience at Camp Nightwing.
Ziggy and Cindy were the names of the two sisters and I assumed she was Cindy at first, but as soon as a familiar name came into the story I knew she was Ziggy by the way she talked about him. Ziggy knew Sheriff Goode or as she called him, Nick, very well. They grew close as her sister's boyfriend Tommy became possessed by Sarah Fier and went on a murderous rampage in the camp. Nick seemed to care about her a lot as well. He even took an axe in the leg from Tommy to help her get away, I always wondered why he had a slight limp. Ziggy talked about how her sister and her friend Alice found the witch's house with a ritual room underneath, this room had many tall rocks with the names of the Shadyside killers carved into them. She talked about Nurse Lane (Ruby Lane's mother) and how she tried to kill Tommy because she saw his name on one of the rocks. How Nurse Lane tried to find the hand to reunite the body to stop the curse. She explained how Alice found Sarah Fier's hand while trapped under the camp with Cindy. She talked about how she got a nosebleed while touching the hand and saw the witch. As she neared the end of her story she told us about how her sister tried to save her as every one of the Shadyside Killers came after them while they were trying to reunite the hand with Sarah Fier's body. Apparently the witch's body wasn't under the hanging tree, which we knew already, and the killers caught up to them. Cindy and Ziggy died beside each other,
"That was July 19th, 1978. Five thousand, nine hundred, and thirty-seven days ago. My sister was dead. And so was I. And most days... I wish I had stayed dead."
She told us that Nick had found her and given her CPR which brought her back.
"Wait. Wait, you're Ziggy?" Josh asked, she nodded and told us that her real name was Christine. Christine Burman.
She began to finish the rest of her story.
"Cindy, my sister, she sacrificed herself for nothing. I told everyone the story of how she died. The story I just told you. And no one believed me."
"What about Nick?" I asked
"I thought he was different. I thought he would believe me. But Nick had a destiny in this town. And you don't become sheriff talking about ghost stories. He told the police that Tommy had just went crazy. I couldn't see him again, not after that. The witch, the town curse... for one night Cindy believed that there was a way to end it. So I thought there was too. But now I know, there is no end." As she said that I looked over to my side and saw a note on her coffee table that read
"It's happening again."
Ziggy and I made eye-contact when she realized I saw it. Was that from Nick? I almost asked her but before I could an alarm went off startling all of us.
"Like I said, your best chance is to run from this place. Go as far as you can, and hope a bus doesn't hit you on your way out." Ziggy said to us
"We found the body." Deena said back, this surprised Ziggy "Off Highway 5 in the woods between Shadyside and Sunnyvale."
"It's not possible." She refuted
"It's there. Trust us." Josh said
"Yeah, we.. we even tried reburying it last night, chains and all, "putting bones to rest" and shit" Simon added
"That could be anyone." Ziggy replied
"Why do you think our friend died? For the same reason they killed Alice and your sister. The killers came after us because we found something they didn't want us to find. And I wish to God that it never happened, but we found it. We found what you were looking for in '78." Deena said
"We found Sarah Fier." I said finishing Deena's sentence "Nurse Lane was right. We can end the curse by reuniting the hand with the body. And lucky for us we happened to stumble apon the body, all we need now is the hand. Is it still underneath the Hanging Tree?" I asked her
"It should be. You four need to go to Shadyside Mall. That's what they replaced Camp Nightwing with after the massacre." Ziggy responded
Ziggy stayed with Sam and the rest of us got into Deena's car and drove to the mall. We got in and made a beeline for the Hanging Tree which was right in the middle of the mall. Deena and Josh began digging though the red moss that surrounded the tree as Simon and I kept watch. After a few minutes Simon and I heard Deena gasp. As we turned around we saw the hand.
"Holy shit." Simon said simply before we all left and started our way towards the body.
We arrived to the woods and Deena jumped out of the car before opening Josh's side.
"Lock the doors. Y/N come with me."
"No, I'm coming with you." Josh said protesting as I got out
"No. You're not. You and Simon need to stay here and watch our backs. Y/N and I will be in and out. We'll be fine."
"Deena... your nose is bleeding." Josh said
Deena touched her nose before stating "We'll be back."
Simon quickly opened the door and grabbed my arm pulling me back swiftly back to him as he kissed me.
"Stay safe alright?" He said as he pulled away
"You too." I said right before following Deena into the woods
Deena and I were able to quickly find where we reburied the bones and we dug them up. Deena uncovered the bones and also the hand.
"We got you...you witch."
