Chapter 22: Games

Rosalie was in the kitchen with Ashley and Evelyn who were busy plating the cupcakes they had baked the other day, which was the day that Rosalie's life had turned upside down, because not only was Elliot killed off but Adrik's wolf made an appearance too. However, tonight, it felt like completely normal. Nothing was amiss or strange, it was simply peaceful. A peace that made Rosalie smile nonstop this entire time.

They had spent the whole day together, even ate dinner and watched a movie in the home theatre too. Justin had cooked up his signature soba noodles with sweet chilli soya sauce. It was fair to say that Justin was not only a fantastic surgeon, but also a great cook AND he was handsome. The man was perfect and they were all surprised that he wasn't mated yet.

Rosalie thought she wouldn't be surprised anymore, but she was by Justin. He decided that he wanted to join the Iron Blood pack too. Ashley said that even Marcello was joining them officially, which was also unexpected for everyone. Except for Rosalie, when she saw Marcello standing beside Zeiden with that mesmerized smile, Rosalie didn't find it all that bizarre that he joined the pack. Mates had a way of persuasion like nothing else. Take her for example; her mate- her beautiful male was the compelling force that drove her to become a part of this pack. Although now, Rosalie loved the rest of the pack too. Ashley, Evelyn, Ronin, Justin, Marcello, Lazarus, Zeiden and Isaiah, they were a remarkable group of wolves. In such a short time, their names just rolled off her tongue like she had known them all her life.

"Chocolate or vanilla?" A voice asked.

Rosalie looked up a bit dazed from being in her mind so much. "Sorry- what?" she met Ashley's eyes.

"Pick your flavour?" beamed Ashley holding a plate full of dessert.

Rosalie looked down at the hand-decorated cupcakes. Some were chocolate and some vanilla, but most of them had baby-pink whipped cream swirled on top of the head like a crown. Rosalie naturally reached for the chocolate one that had white heart candies sprinkled on top too.

"Thank you," she said.

"You're welcome," said Ashley and marched off to share with the rest of the members. She went to Isaiah who was standing with Lazarus and Marcello.

They didn't seem like the type to grab one, but they instantly stopped talking and gave Ashley their full attention. Rosalie loved that about them. Everyone around here respected each other and helped one another all the time. Isaiah especially instead of grabbing a cupcake, he stole a kiss from his mate. Ashley's bright laughter echoed and she put the pink cupcake in his rough hand, but he held what she had gave him carefully so that it wouldn't break. Those two really were in love that even a stranger could sense it.

Rosalie peeled off the wrapper from the bottom and bit into the rich bread, the smooth cream coating the top of her lip and nose. She wiped the tip of her nose as the delicious flavours melted into her mouth. Wow, a cupcake really knew how to cure all worries.

She wanted to share one with Vivian and Adrik, but they were in the infirmary downstairs together. Justin was taking a look at their injuries, Zeiden and Ronin were with them too. Rosalie was about to get off the long stool and go to them, but they came back instead.

Ronin and Zeiden appeared as they spoke with Justin about the infirmary and other medical jargon, that Rosalie didn't understand. Apart from ballet and good food, there wasn't much Rosalie really paid attention to. Wait, hold on, there were those two people walking right up to her that she knew and felt everything about.

A smile on her lips, she looked at Vivian and then up at the man who was following beside the pup. Adrik took long strides, but patiently controlled his speed so he could match Vivian. But when Adrik's deep blue eyes caught Rosalie watching, he instantly wanted to walk right over to her. And she wanted him to do that too. She was so glad when he had walked past the others and came straight to her in the kitchen.
