The POV's are going to change, and it will stay this way, but it may occasionally switch from Emma's POV to Noah's, Lachlan's, Olivia's or other characters that I might introduce later.

Incommodious: Causing inconvenience or discomfort.

- E m m a -

I rest my elbows on my desk. Finally, it's Friday. I'll have the next two days to find the thief. I hear a knock at my door. I give a quick "mhm" and my security guard enters my office.

"We have found the thief," he announces.

So much for that idea. I didn't even know that security had been alerted of the theft. I shake my head. Of course they have, it's their job to know.  A small sigh escapes my mouth.

"Who was it?" I ask.

The security guard pauses a moment. "You might not want to know-" he starts before I interrupt him.

"Tell me," I say, gritting my teeth.

He nods. "It was Lachlan."

I hurry through the bustling hall, eager to get to the elevator and out of the commotion. I blow out a quick breath as I press the floor I want to go to and then the 'close' button on the lift wall.

"Hold the door!" A panicked voice yells.

I sigh and press the opposite button of what I was pressing. Lachlan steps into the elevator, puffing.

"Oh, hey, babe," he gives me a peck on the forehead.

I grimace.

"What's wrong?" he looks puzzled.

I wipe the kiss off my head.

"Nothing," I say, as if it's not a white lie that he can see through.

He grabs my waist and pulls me towards him.

"Tell me," he softly says.

I cave in. "I know that you stole the file for the party tomorrow and I'm really mad at you!" I screech.

His mouth drops open and he looks like he's about to say something but I cut him off.

"Don't," I pause for dramatic emphasis, "Nothing you can do or say will make me forgive you."

I push off his chest, turning my nose up at him and his hands fall off my waist. He opens and closes his mouth a few times, as if he's trying to decide what to say. Eventually, he decides to keep it closed. Good choice, I think. Lachlan stands up straighter and clears his throat. As if this isn't awkward enough, he starts humming. I suppress an eye roll. He hums when he's nervous.
The elevators dings and the doors slowly open as we reach my floor. I step out and then turn to face Lachlan.

"Why did you do it? Why did you take the file?" I ask, noticing that the elevator doors have started closing.

"I-" he starts, but before he could finish, the doors shut fully.

I won't see him again for another two days. Thank god. Oh, wait, no. The party. I'll have to see him tomorrow. Crap!

I flop onto the couch as I get home. I get my phone out from my bag and open my contacts. I start scrolling, looking for Olivia's name. It's in alphabetical order, like always. I get to the 'N' and my eyes lock onto one name. Noah Clark. What the hell? How did that get there? I furrow my eyebrows. I brush it off, still scrolling. Olivia's name comes up on my screen. I press it, eager to hear her familiar voice. The dial tone trills for a few seconds before she picks up the phone.

"Hello?" she says.

"Lachlan, uhm, stole a folder from me and I don't know what to do," I say, honestly.

She blows out a quick breath.

"What was it about?" she asks.

"The party tomorrow," I reply.

She groans and curses under her breath. I furrow my eyebrows, "What?" I ask.

"Nothing!" she basically yells, quickly trying to diminish my thought.

I pull the phone away from my ear as she screeches into it.

"Okay, okay!" I reply, gingerly bringing the phone back to my face.

"Well, I have to go now. Bye!" she says, almost as frantic as before.

I start saying goodbye but I'm cut of by the end tone. I shrug it off, maybe she's just having an off day. Besides, I really need to stop being so paranoid.

I get up from the couch, walk over to my fridge and snatch a can of Coke. I jog back over to the couch and lie down on it. I then grab the remote from the coffee table and switch on 1922. I love this movie. It's my favourite and I swear, I've watched it at least 1,000 times. Eventually I drift off into a slumber.

The sound of a phone ringing makes me wake up. I groan, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I get up, stretch and yawn. As I pick up the phone, Lachlan's voice greets me.

"Hey babe! I got us movie tickets to see Word War Z! I know that it's your favourite!" he exclaims, enthusiastically.

I cringe as he says 'it's your favourite'. I hate zombie apocalypse movies with a passion. "I don't like zombie movies, though," I say with a sigh.

He pauses for a moment.

"What?" I can hear the confusion in his voice.

"No, they're Olivia's favourite," I murmur.

I hear him curse under his breath.

"Sorry, I have to go, bye!" he says before hanging up.

Why does everyone keep hanging up on me today? Weird. I flop back onto the couch and close my eyes, deciding to go back to sleep. I definitely need the extra rest.
