Olivia glares at Emma from across the table while Lachlan glares at me. God, this is awkward. Why did Lachlan have to cheat on Emma? For God's sake, it's made everything so unpleasant.
"Io vado. Ci vediamo dopo," I whisper to Emma.
["I'm going. I'll see you later"]
She nods as I stand up.
"Arrivederci. I love you," she blushes and averts her gaze to her fingers.
["Goodbye"]
"I love you too," I smile at her as Lachlan and Olivia look between us, seemingly fuming.
"What did you say to him?" Olivia points an accusing finger at Emma.
She opens her mouth to reply but I cut in.
"She said 'I love you', are you deaf or something?" My snarky reply shocks Olivia.
She takes her finger away from Emma's face but she's still glaring at her. Emma turns around and sends me a weak smile. I return the gesture before leaving the office.
"L'hai aggiustato?" I ask Elijah.
["Did you fix it?"]
"Sì, capo," he responds, sounding slightly worried. As he should be.
["Yes, boss"]
"Ti sei sbarazzato di quello che ha fatto l'errore?" I question.
["Did you get rid of the one who made the mistake?"]
Elijah nods quickly.
"Get Valerio," I say, not realising that Elijah doesn't understand English.
I look up to see his confused face."Ottenere Valerio," I repeat in Italian.
["Get Valerio"]
He nods and runs off to get my brother.
"Hello, brother," Valerio greets from behind me in his icy cold voice.
"Hello, Valerio," I reply.
"Parliamo in italiano. Non vogliamo rischiare che gli americani ci scoprano, no?" he says.
["Let us speak in Italian. We don't want to risk the Americans finding out about us, do we?"]
"Se insisti,"
["If you insist"]
I'm not about to tell him that he was right. He definitely doesn't need that ego boost.
"Ti ho osservato, Vincenzo," He murmurs.
["I have been watching you, Vincenzo"]
"Non chiamarmi così. Il mio nome è Noah qui," I sternly reply.
["Don't call me that. My name is Noah here"]
He chuckles."La tua piccola fidanzata è adorabile. Sarebbe un peccato se le succedesse qualcosa, no?" He knows just how to push my buttons.
["Your little girlfriend is adorable. It would be a shame if something happened to her, wouldn't it?"]
"Don't hurt her!" I yell.
"Now, now, brother. Keep your voice down, or the Americans will find us," Valerio tries to soothe me.
"Non posso credere che mi abbiate costretto ad andare sotto copertura qui. Voglio tornare nella mafia italiana,"
["I can't believe you forced me to go undercover here. I want to go back to the Italian Mafia."]
"Not yet, Vincenzo. You must complete the mission first," Valerio replies.
"I said 'don't call me that'! My name here is Noah, you'll get our cover blown!" I screech.
"Whatever you say, Vincenzo." Valerio says with a sly smirk on his face. Oh my God, I hate my brother.
