Chapter 2

"Wake up miss Y/n!"

I jolted awake to see Eva sitting on my lap. She was looking at me super excited.

"Good morning Eva." I groaned.

Eva got off of me so I could sit up.

"Do you know how to cook?" Eva asked.

"What would you like for breakfast Eva?"

Eva's eyes lit up.

"Can you make chocolate chip and strawberry pancakes? It's my favorite!"

I giggled at Eva's happiness. Such a joyful child she is.

"Oh! Can I help as well? Mother and auntie Donna always let's me help them!" Eva said jumping up and down a bit.

"Yes, you can help." I smiled.

After 30 minutes of preparation and messing around with Eva, we finally made the chocolate chip and strawberry pancakes Eva requested.

Eva ate her food like she hasn't eaten in days.

"Eva? How long have you been running from the man?"

Eva took a sip of her water to push down her food that she was inhaling. At least she had manners.

"Um, let's see... a week maybe? Or around a week." Eva replied and she went right back to inhaling her food.

So, Eva has been running away from a man that took her away from her family for a week? Eva's family must be worried sick.

"Eva, make sure to thank the owner of this hotel for allowing us to make food in their kitchen."

Eva nodded as she finished her plate of pancakes. It was 8 in the morning and Chris is still asleep. My mind went back to the pet store where I met that ferret, Shelly.

"Hey, Eva? Do you want to see a ferret?"

"What's a ferret?" Eva asked.

"A cute pet that I'm going to get for myself. I've had a few pets in my life and a ferret was always my favorite. Her name is Shelly. So, wanna come with me to buy her?"

"Yeah!" Eva nearly screamed.

Thankfully Chris was a heavy sleeper.

"Can I play with it as well?" Eva asked.

"Of course!"

On the way out of the hotel, Eva said thank you to the owner of the hotel and gave the guy a hug. Such a sweetheart.

I gave Eva a piggyback ride until  we got to the pet store. The lady employee I meet yesterday was here which was wonderful. After talking to the lady and paying for the ferret, I let Eva carry Shelly's cage until we got back to the hotel.

Once in our hotel room, I gave Eva permission to let Shelly out as I got her food and water dish out. Eva let out a squeak has Shelly started dashing around in her lap licking and biting her hand gently. Shelly heard me put food in a bowl and she crawled up my leg, up my body, and wrapped herself around my neck almost. She was like a neck wormer.

"Hold on you little climber."

I placed Shelly's food and water bowls on the floor near the table. Shelly moved from my neck to my shoulder and she hopped off and ate. After Shelly ate her food, Shelly started playing with the red ball that a bought.

Eva threw the red ball occasionally and Shelly always brought it back to her. This continued for a good hour and then Chris woke up. Chris walked in and saw Shelly.
