Third Pov

Jungkook flashed back to reality and quickly came up with an excuse to tell Taehyung. "I scratched myself yesterday whilst tidying up." Taehyung let go of Jungkook's wrist and let out a sigh, "That's a relief."

"The color of your eyes."

"Hm?"

Jungkook loved Kim Taehyung's eyes. It was gorgeous, even when his world was gray. It was something he had never seen before. "Teach me the different shades of brown, Taehyung."

"Sure."

"Cocoa, red bean, jujube, copper, brick, reddish brow, chocolate brown, coffee, brown black, sepia, khaki, clay, yellow brown, walnut, bronze,"

Just like a biscuit soaked in milk, Jungkook was melting.

"Buff, Kiwi, russet, taupe, red ochre,"

As the name touched Jungkook's ears, he could feel Kim Taehyung's warmth.

"Cinnabar, orange brown,"

All Jungkook could think about was Kim Taehyung's caramel-colored eyes, that he couldn't even look straight at.

"Walnut, amber, sienna, cadmium red,"

Jungkook didn't want to see Kim Taehyung leave him. He wanted him to stay by his side forever.

"Chippendale, Bismarck, Dresden brown,"

Jungkook was in love.

With the memories, and with Kim Taehyung.

"London fog, valley mist, volcan, amber rust, foxy brown, Lapin, panther, poly,"

Seeing resentment in Taehyung's eyes made Jungkook tremble. Despite hearing all these different shades of brown, if those caramel brown eyes started to see Jungkook in contempt, he wouldn't know how to name that color they turned into.

"Whiskey, Derby tan, Winter Leaf,"

The dry and barren Sahara. The cloudy London fog. The kick the chili pepper brings. Jungkook questioned himself. Would he end up naming them all as the withering winter leaf brown?

"Jungkook, teach me the grey-scale."

"I want to know about the grey world you see."

Without hesitation, Jungkook stood up and dragged Taehyung by the hand up the stairs. Jungkook brought Taehyung to a painting of a pair of eyes Jungkook had drawn a while ago. The painting was named 'Mom's World'. The school was so impressed by it that they put it up on their classroom floor. The paint he had used was all the 10 shades of gray in his world.

"Do you know how I felt when I discovered this?"

Jungkook turned to face Taehyung after what Taehyung had said. "It made me sad,"

"Sadness kept washing over me. The colors you see when I'm not with you. "

Taehyung faced Jungkook when Jungkook did the total opposite. "I'm curious, Jungkook. I want to understand you. I want to know how you feel when you're left alone. "

"White, snowy white, light gray, silver-gray, moonlit gray, cement gray, dolphin gray, shark gray, charcoal gray, and black."

"What would be dolphin gray?"

"Just naming the color "gray" could be confusing, so a descriptive word was added. It's the color most people know as gray. "

"How about moonlit gray?" Jungkook finally faced him.

"Think of the moon's surface." Taehyung smiled softly. "I'm glad to know that I was aware of the gray colors you see."

"White, snowy white, light gray, silver-gray, moonlit gray, cement gray, dolphin gray, shark gray, charcoal gray, and black." Taehyung repeated all the 10 shades of gray Jungkook had taught him minutes ago with perfect accuracy.

Because now, the colors of Jungkook's world are the colors of Taehyung's world.

"Jungkook, which shade of gray is your favorite?" Jungkook broke eye contact after the question asked by Taehyung and faced his painting. "Moonlit gray."

It was the color of the headband Jungkook's mother wore on the day she disappeared. It's a color his aunt doesn't remember. A flashback of his mother drowning with her headband came up in his mind. All the while, decoloring is happening, even when Taehyung is this close to him. A loud beep rang through his ears on one side and out the other side as he stumbled a bit. "Jungkook." Taehyung grabbed him by the waist while Jungkook gripped tightly on the railing of the ladder. Jungkook softly pulled Taehyung's hand off of him and quickly turned around. "I'm alright. I should get going. " Jungkook sprinted out of school, not bothered by the security guard screaming at him for leaving when school was still going on. Jungkook didn't care. He didn't want to hurt Kim Taehyung. Taehyung was in danger.

Jungkook's Pov

I picked up the hammer on my study desk at home after taking off my school uniform.

What am I doing? I stared at the gray hammer in my hand.

The monster is here for you, Kim Taehyung.

"Female mantises eat male mantises during mating season."

"Male mantises try to mate, knowing they'll lose their lives."

"A probe male in his 40s kills his wife and family before committing suicide.

There's no need to worry, Kim Taehyung. Because I'll take the monster with me.

The monster that wishes to have you all for himself. I'm not like the other monos. You taught me about colors, brought me joy, and then experienced loss, Kim Taehyung. I won't make you miserable, ever.

I jumped off the chair. The rope tightened against my neck as I hung, struggling to breathe.

Goodbye, Kim Taehyung.

The last thing I heard before my blackout, was the tightening sound of my rope and a loud knock on my bedroom door from my aunt.
