"Urghhh I just have around 1000$ left and I still have to manage my finances" exclaimed Cheryl while sitting in a corner with a long list of what had to be bought and how could she earn enough money to buy those things. Sighs, "I should start working in a restaurant or somewhere I can earn money!" As she was lost in these thoughts, the doorbell rang and she dashed towards the door wondering who it was, only to later realize she had no friends who would come to see her. With a dejected look, she went towards the door, only to see she had a package from the college which had a bunch of books. She took the books to her room and opened up the psychology book which to her surprise, was a bit too small in size and it had just 700 pages! "Just SEVEN HUNDRED PAGES! What are they even gonna educate with this book!".
700 Pages might seem to us, the readers a humongous number but Cheryl was completely different than the rest. She had so much infatuation for books that in her orphanage days, she had read books of even higher classes was a champion in the art of reading.
"I wonder how the teachers there will be", she said while turning the pages of the book as if she was scanning through it and would just remember all of it. She read the index of the book only to find that she had read all these chapters in more detail than mentioned here, in the high school book just last year. She rose from the chair with vexation due to the childish chapters in the psychology book. She thought she needed a break and hence, left her house to stroll around for a bit.
Cheryl was absolutely unknown to the place but as she started ambling along the city side she saw numerous pleasant things,
the clouds wrapping the sun as if they were embracing each other with love, the trees looking as if yawning out loud. As she advanced towards the city she gazed at the massive buildings, the vogued cars, richness all around, beautiful cafes, and most appealing restaurants. And one such restaurant had a poster saying "Crew needed for work. Must know how to cook breakfast and also speak French and fluent English(US style). After all, she was in Washington DC, and the 'US-style English'was necessary.
She moved towards that restaurant having an appealing name "Nourriture ici" which literally just meant "Food here". Though Cheryl didn't know even a word in french she knew quite a few languages, German, English, and Spanish. She wanted to try her luck in getting a job there without knowing french!
"Hello Sir, My name is Cheryl Matthews I am 18 and I would love to work here," said Cheryl in the sweetest way possible.
"Do you know how to cook breakfast?", Asked a man with a pure grunt who was around 40-42 years and had a small mustache which made him even more horrifying. Besides that, he had scars on his hands as if he had just been around murdering people and was sentenced to jail.
"Yes sir, I can cook all kinds of US delicacies". "Sais tu Parler Francais". "Sorry.... sir? I didn't quite understand that," said Cheryl sounding as if she would start sobbing any moment. "Didn't the damn sign outside says that french speaking people are needed!! Didn't you read that?!" Roared the old man.
Cheryl somehow managed to plaster a smile on her face and replied "I apologize sir, but I'm an orphan and I'm alone. I want to work so that I can earn some money. Please consider giving me the job sir".
"Hmmm, I see. Okay, you look sincere enough. Job granted, but learn french within 15 days or else get fired. Your salary will be 20$ an hour. We work 12 hours a day, you can figure out the timings according to your high school schedule", said the old man with a hint of sympathy for the 1st time in this entire dialogue of theirs. But, Cheryl could see a  bit of stress in his eyes and also as if he was 2nd guessing his own decision. "Also, my name is Bernard Steven, the boy over there is Felix and he's 18, I'm guessing almost the same age as you. We also have 2 chefs, Michel and Catherine all of the same age".
"Feels like I've entered into some high school canteen," grumbled Bernard with annoyance.
