Chapter 24 ~ A New Home

Seregbis and Kato just sat in silence, the occasional sound of ice moving. The silence was comfortable, but in this silence Kato took advantage of it and started to think over the things that had happen. Why did he say that? Why did he try and stop her? Why? Why? Why? Why is he even here?

" You care don't you? " Seregbis said gently, startling him.

" What? " Taking off the ice pack and placing it on the table

" You care for her don't you? " Seregbis questioned again. Kato thought for a moment before he understood what she meant.

" Oh. Her. How should I know? Why should I? " Kato paused. " Would she even care? I don't think so, she probably hates me even more for what I said. Why should i care for such a creature? Why are we even surviving? Why did we even save each other? Seregbis, why did we make it here? HOw did we make it here without killing each other? " The elf watched as the merman spilled out his thoughts.

" Kato, I may not be the best person to come to advise for, but I know, I know that you are not the only people going through these things. But, maybe not killing each other was a good idea if you think about it, it got you both here didn't it? And I say that you should go apologize to her before she does really end up hating you forever Kato. " Seregbis smiled lightly at the end.

" Apologize? why? she was the one who started it, I do not see the reason to apologize and who cares if she ends up hating me forever. " Seregbis sighed.

" You care, stop denying it and who stated the part about Lucy? Hmm? " Seregbis countered in a firm tone. " Now, listen to me this is what you're going to do for the rest of the day, as soon as we are done with our talk you and Damien are going to start building the yours and Faylinn's house no arguing or complaining got it? "

" Fine " Kato got up from his seat same thing with Seregbis and he followed her where the wood was for him to build the new home for him and Faylinn.

Damien soon then join Kato in starting the home. Passing some work gloves and putting them on before starting their work. Kato and Damien started with the base of the house and continued their work until sunset.

Faylinn stayed at her spot until the sun started to set. Her mind was filled with questions as her tear strained face looked at the sun set one more time before turning around and flying back towards the house. When she was a meter or two away she put her feet down on the ground before entering the house, failling to see the new one being built nearby.

" Hey Faylinn! There is some dinner left over for you... " Seregbis trailed off as Faylinn walked past her went to her shared bedroom with Kato. " I'm guessing she isnt hungry. " Kato watched in silence as he watched her walk by, this time he noticed how beautiful she was, this time he noticed how tiny she was, this time he noticed how fragile she was.

ThWAK. Kato jumped as Damien held his head. Rubbing his head as he looked at his wife with a questioning look. She gave him half a glare and sat down across from them and began eating. The same thing with the two boys.

" How is the progress on the house? " Seregbis asked nonchalantly

" It's going by to be ready in about a month or two. " Damien responded

" Really? That's quick. But that excludes the furniture and others things, right? " Damien hummed in response " Okay, I'll teach Faylinn how to sew and other things starting tomorrow. "

The three soon finished dinner and went off to bed. Kato opened the door to his shared room with Faylinn and saw her fast asleep under some blankets that was given to them the other day. He closed the door behind him softly and carefully walked towards his own bed. Slipping under the covers before muttering to Faylinn.
