------------------------------------
The Siren woke up with a start. First, he looked at the clock 6:15 AM he had a few hours. Second, the diary. He frantically looked around for it only to have it under his pillow. The diary was still in its condition it was in yesterday. He opened it up again more curious then he was before. Again, the same question haunted his mind and why? Why did the princess stay? Why did the war start? Why did she fall for the faerie? Why? Why? Why?
The poor siren had so many questions running through his head. Then one question stood out from the rest, when was this written? What year was it written in? The siren flipped through the pages to the last time where it was written. The date was X735 April 15th. The small diary was written 55 years ago, the last entry written 55 years ago. Wait, the date. The date was so familiar, why was it so familiar?
A loud knock snapped the siren back to reality, he quickly hid the diary and swan towards the door where the knock was. He opened the door to a soldier.
" You are Kato? Correct? " The soldier asked the auburn, in which he nodded in agreement. " Good. I am here to take you to the base and we can start your training. " the soldier adds sternly after. The auburn quickly grabs a few things including the diary stuffing them in a bag and quickly heading out with the soldier.
The way to the base was boring and silent, the auburn was thinking hard and trying to get answers to his questions while the soldier was focused on getting to the base. Suddenly the auburn asked the soldier " Do you know why the war started? " the soldier paused as did the auburn. The soldier looked at the auburn with a curious look.
~~~~~ Faeries Kingdom ~~~~~
The faerie woke up to a small and annoying voice yelling at her to get up. She just waved her arm and said five more minutes which made the small voice stop and make a huff.
A few seconds later a cold liquid hit the faeries face making her wake up and sit up abruptly. Her eyes were wide in shock but quickly turned into anger when she saw Lucy with a small glass in her hands.
" Finally you're awake! Now hurry up and get ready, the guards will be here soon! " Lucy cheered and quickly flew off somewhere in her home.
The faerie slowly climbed out of her bed and changed out of her night gown and into her usual clothing. She brushed her hair and put it into a high ponytail but still her hair reached hips. She then walked into the kitchen and made herself a small breakfast for her and Lucy. When she finished her breakfast there was a soft knock on her door, she quickly rushed to get it while grabbing her bag.
" Hello, you are Faylinn, am I correct? " a young soldier appeared at her doorstep. The faerie nodded with Lucy appearing on her shoulder. " Sweet, alright we must leave now so we can start you training as soon as possible " Again, Faylinn nodded. She followed the young man towards the training yard.
The way to the training yard was filled with small talk and snickers from Lucy. Sometimes Faylinns mind would drift back towards the questions that raided her mind last night. Curiosity kept poking at her, the more she thought about it. Then a question popped in her head " Why did you join the army? " She said bluntly, taking the young soldier and Lucy by surprise. " Sorry if I sound rude, but why did you join the army? " she said again being more polite this time. The young soldier smiled.
~~~~~ Sirens Kingdom ~~~~~ ( A/N there will be A LOT OF SWITCHING )
" Curious one ain't ya? " The soldier spoke up surprising Kato.
" I- I guess so. " Kato stutters over his words stretching the back of his neck
" Hehe, well, we need curiosity like yours in the army. The poor soldiers have lost their curiosity along with many other things. Now, you wanted to know why the war started?" The soldier asked. Kato nodded which made the soldier smile. " Now. Where do I start? Ah, yes. Apparently about 50 years ago the king of the sirens had enough of being sorrow and angry and had finally enough of being nice towards the faeries. "
" Wait. Why was the king sad and angry before? Had something happened? What about the princess? " Kato asked cutting off the soldier, which made him chuckle
" No one knows, except the king himself and the princess. The princess around that time was exiled for coming into contact with a faerie. " he sighed before continuing on. " The princess had kept it a secret for about 5 years before being caught, from the guards that caught her they said that she exclaimed that she loved him and other things. With these things being said it made the king furious, and sadly he had to exile his own daughter and take her powers and rip and tear her own tail. I guess the worst punishments even apply to royalty. " the soldier sighed sadly and looked at the auburn merman to see his eyebrows furrowed.
" Do you think the princess knew about the punishment? And you would think after though 5 years she would know if someone had followed her? " Kato asked after a while.
The soldier smile appeared on his lips again. " I don't know. I will say from the rumours I hear in this crazy base is that she was a wild spirit and never being able to controlled. "
" How come the people don't know the story of the princess? Or the reason why this war had started. "
" For their own safety. And hey! I haven't finished telling the reason why the war started. Hehe, well, like I said the king was tired of being sad and angry and started a war between the faeries. The first few years was chaotic and nasty. Both Faeries and Sirens lots many soldiers those years, about 25 years after the war started the faery Queen wanted to make a offer, but the King refused. And that's that really, not much has happened since then and now. Hopefully we can end and win this war soon. " The soldier said sadly.
Kato stayed silent the rest of the way and started to think. Maybe he could find the answers to his questions by listening to what the soldier said. And in his luck, he found some answers but which only added to more questions.
~~~~~~~ Faeries Kingdom ~~~~~~~
" I joined the army mostly because of my of Father. My Father was General in the Faery Army but he was sadly killed. Killed by those retched sirens " The young soldier had spat the last word like it was poison. Faylinn understood how he felt about revenge but there is more to it then revenge and being cold-blooded.
" Sorry for asking such a topic " Faylinn apologized
" No, no it's quite alright. Anyways we're almost there. I bet you can't wait to start your training. " He said excitedly.
This young faery was quite energetic and carefree, Faylinn liked him for that. Not many people now days were carefree or happy, they were usually unhappy or grumpy. They talked some more before reaching the training yard. There were many trainees there all lined up and ready to go. It made Faylinn feel a bit anxious. It was her first day for training, was she going to mess it up? Then all of a sudden a tall muscular faery in uniform walked over to Faylinn and Lucy ( who was on her shoulder the whole time ).
" A new recruit? Faylinn am I correct? " he stated in stern tone.
"Yes sir. " Faylinn said trying to gain at least a bit of confidence. The faery observed her and soon turned around and started to walk away.
" Alright lass, today your going to show me some of your swordsmanship. " And with that phrase. Her training began. And in the sirens kingdom another recruit began his training.
