The next day arrived faster than usual, and I found myself still cocooned in the embrace of the soft sheets. It was a new and peaceful sensation, and I was reluctant to leave the warmth of the bed. Unbeknownst to me, I had slept for more than half the day, my body making up for the exhaustion it had endured.
I know I'm mad enough to trust a stranger and live under his roof.
I grumbled under my breath, cursing softly as the interruption shattered my thoughts. "Damn it," I sighed, my irritation evident in the tone of my voice. With a determined huff, I reluctantly dragged myself out of bed, determined to confront whoever stood on the other side of the door.
As I swung open the door, my annoyance was momentarily replaced by surprise and curiosity. Standing before me was a woman, radiating youthful vitality despite her apparent age.
"Good afternoon," the woman greeted, her voice as soothing as a gentle breeze, momentarily captivating my attention.
Even her voice is calming, I thought to myself, momentarily appreciating the tranquility it brought amidst the chaos of my thoughts.
Returning to the present, I replied, "Good afternoon to you too..."
"Inna, my name is Olga," A woman introduced herself, prompting me to nod in acknowledgment before reciprocating with my own name. She was in her thirties, she looked like she had thirty-five or more. A brunette with ember eyes and a curved body. She looked healthy.
"I hope you had a restful sleep, Inna," Olga continued, her words laced with genuine concern for my well-being. She was smiling ear to ear.
"I did, thank you. The bed was quite comfortable," I replied, a faint smile gracing my lips as I recalled the deep slumber I had enjoyed.
Olga nodded in understanding, her smile reflecting a shared knowledge of the bed's comfort. Moving closer, she gently touched the noticeable bags under my eyes, a tender gesture that conveyed both empathy and care.
"The ball is scheduled for tonight at seven, so you should begin preparing yourself soon," Olga informed me, her voice carrying a sense of anticipation.
My brows furrowed slightly at the mention of a ball. The remainder of the upcoming event stirred a mix of excitement and apprehension within me. The idea of attending a grand affair, surrounded by unfamiliar faces and potential risks, sent a surge of adrenaline through my veins.
"Thank you for letting me know, Olga," I responded, my tone conveying gratitude. As she closed the door behind her, I found myself alone with my thoughts once more. The ball would undoubtedly serve as a stage for hidden agendas, power plays, and intrigue. Beneath the veneer of elegance, the true nature of the event would unveil itself, requiring my wits and survival instincts to remain vigilant.
Taking a deep breath, I steeled myself for the challenges that lay ahead. The ball would mark a pivotal moment in my journey.
My brows knitted together as I leaned away from Olga's inquisitive touch, my gaze fixed on the woman before me. "What time is it now?" I inquired, realizing that I had lost track of time amidst my thoughts. The hours had slipped away unnoticed, and I was eager to gauge how much time remained before the anticipated ball.
"It's about four in the afternoon, Miss," Olga replied, her voice calm and composed. My confusion flickered briefly across my face as I surveyed the room, searching for a sense of familiarity that seemed elusive at the moment. With a shrug, I dismissed my puzzlement, recognizing that I had been preoccupied with my thoughts.
Olga's voice interrupted my contemplation, drawing my attention back to the present.
"Who are you?"
"I am actually living here, like a housemade of this house while Sin is away and casually Sin's housemate?" Olga chuckled, "Have a shower. You should prepare yourself. You'll find everything you need in the bathroom. I already arranged it for you yesterday before you arrived, I will leave you your lunch to eat." Olga instructed, her words carrying a sense of efficiency and consideration. With that, Olga made her exit, leaving me to my own devices.
