Rain poured from the sky and an occasional crack of thunder broke the quiet sounds around us. I was happily perched on top of Embry Call's lap, my head resting on his shoulder and my hand entwined with his. We were spending the stormy evening relaxing in my living room due to the fact that he had been patrolling the forest all day and was dog tired (pun intended!). I was more than happy to share some one on one time just cuddling with my quiet werewolf, so the bad weather didn't bother me.
'Footloose' played on the TV with the volume turned down so low that it was barely audible. Neither of us were watching it; I had mainly just turned it on for quiet background noise. Embry loved the movie for some reason, so it was a go-to on lazy nights. I could even recite parts of scenes now, even though it wasn't one of my favorites. The only reason I owned it was to see him smile as the beginning credits rolled.
Suddenly, Embry shifted a little bit beneath me. I tilted my head up slightly to look at his face that was illuminated by the tv screen. I had thought he had fallen asleep with how still and quiet he had been, but his chocolate colored eyes were wide open. His gaze moved from the movie down to me and I gave him a small smile. Instead he surprised me by lowering his head and capturing my lips in his. Gently and lovingly, he kissed me for a long minute before pulling away so we could both catch our breath. Only then did he give me a shy smile in return. I let out a quiet laugh, wrapping my arms around his waist in a tight hug.
"What was that for?" I asked in a whisper.
Another crack of thunder echoed through the house and shook the loose items around us as he tucked a stray strand of my hair behind my ear.
"My amazing imprint," He murmured.
Smiling, I attempted to snuggle even closer to him and he wrapped his arms around me in return, resting his cheek against the top of my head. He might be shy and quiet (when he wasn't around the boisterous pack, that is) and he might battle vampires on a near monthly basis these days, but I still loved him. He was my sweet, wonderful wolf boy.
"I love you," I mumbled, happily breathing in his woodsy scent that came from running through the trees all day.
"I love you back," He replied just as quietly, giving me a gentle squeeze.
