A breeze rippled across the large clearing in the woods.  Paired with a thickly clouded sky, it made a perfect day for a baseball game.   I rubbed my hands together excitedly, watching as the pack set out bases and tossed baseballs to each other to warm up.  The game had been my idea; I had been sick of hearing Bella brag about how much fun baseball was now that she was a vampire and wasn't clumsy anymore.  Every thunderstorm, the Cullens were out playing baseball and having a good old time.  So, me being me, I managed to talk the pack into getting together to play a game of our own.
"You ready for this, Aylah?" Quil was bouncing excitedly next to me on top of home base.
"Ho yeah! This is going to be a blast," I assured him.
"You're not nervous about running against strong, strapping werewolves?" Jared teased as he walked up to us with several beat up baseball bats.
The guys had pooled their old sports equipment together, so there was an array of bats, balls, gloves, and other random gear for anyone to use.  Not that the guys would; they were tough werewolves who didn't care if they got hit with a baseball.   Heck, I had a feeling we'd be lucky if they decided to use gloves.
"Nah," I shook my head, making my ponytail whip about behind me.  "I may be eating your dust, but it'll be a good work out for me."
"You do know Embry only agreed to let you play because you're the star of the track team, right?" Quil pointed out.
"Is that supposed to be an insult or a compliment?" I asked with a good natured laugh.
"A compliment.  None of the other imprints got to play," He gestured to the field full of guys.  "Just you and us wolf men."
"You mean wolf boys?" I corrected playfully.
He rolled his eyes at me. "I mean wolf men."
   "Whatever you say, youngling."
   "Just because I don't age anymore doesn't mean I'm forever a child!"
   "Are you sure about that?"
"Embry!  Your girlfriend is harassing me," Quil howled when he saw his friend approaching from the middle of the field.
"I would if I was stuck standing next to you, too," Embry called back with a grin.
"Jeez, you two are made for each other.  You're both bullies." Quil fake pouted.
I gently patted his shoulder.  "You love us anyway."
"I'd say yes, but I don't want Embry to kill me." He tried to bite back a grin.
"Why am I killing you now?" Embry took that moment to come to a stop before us.
"Because he loves me," I said at the same time as Quil said, "No reason."
Quil gave me a mock glare as Embry tossed an arm over my shoulders.   I just smiled cheesily back at the curly haired werewolf.
"Since Quil already has his own imprint, I'm not worried," Embry stated.   "Besides, I know your taste in men, and the funny sidekick is not it."
"Says who?" I demanded lightly before Quil could respond.  "I happen to know that you're a sidekick who thinks he's funny."
"Me?" Embry pressed his free hand to his chest in a dramatic gesture.   "Who says I'm not funny?"
"Me!" The shout came from both me and Quil as well as Jared and Leah who were standing near enough to hear the conversation.
"Wow, that was unanimous," Quil chortled.
Embry laughed with him.  "Yeah, everyone knows you're the funny one."
"And don't you forget it." Quil bowed playfully.
"Hey, are we, like, actually going to play or are you girls going to keep yappin' over there?" Jared interjected with a wide grin.  "I wanna show off my baseball skills."
"Like you have any baseball skills." Leah rolled her eyes.
"Jared's right, let's get it together," Sam called in his normal authoritive voice.
Embry pressed a kiss to the top of my head as the guys gathered around Sam to argue for their favorite positions.  I already knew where I'd be; either at the bat or in the outfield.  There was no way a girl with skinny arms like me would be pitcher in this group of muscled men.  I was okay with that, though.  I could pitch when I played with the neighborhood kids.
"You ready for this?" Embry murmured in my ear.
"Definitely," I assured him.  "Are you?"
"To be completely honest, I'm not very good at baseball.  So, no, not really.  But I figure if I stay in the outfield, no one's going to care." He chuckled lightly as he nuzzled the side of my head a little.  Man, was I spoiled!  I had gotten a clingy one.
"Can you at least catch a flying ball that's going really, really fast?" I questioned, my voice slightly more breathy now that he was devoting so much attention to me.
"We'll find out." He laughed softly again.
"Oh boy." I laughed with him, my arms giving him a little squeeze of affection.
Turning my head with the tip of his fingers on my chin, he brought my face to his.  I couldn't help but smile as his nose brushed past my own, bringing my lips to his.  The smile quickly faded as I kissed him back very softly.  It was our normal 'we're in public' kiss; soft enough to not gross people out, but loving enough to satisfy us until we got to a more private location later on.  His lips were warm and soft, which made the best kind of kiss in the world.  I could easily get lost in one of his kisses.
"Hey, no lovey dovey crap on the field!  You're making us jealous here," Quil hollered, breaking up our lip lock.
Embry chuckled low and deep again, pressing one last kiss to my forehead before pulling away from me.  I instantly missed his warmth and touch.  I was head over heels for him, and everyone knew it.  Smiling to myself, I watched as he wandered over to Sam.
"Where're ya putting me, boss?" I heard him ask.
"Outfield.  I was going to put you as a batter, but it looks like I'm going to have to separate you two lovebirds," Sam teased him good naturedly.
"Probably for the best," Embry agreed.
   "So I'm a batter?" I clarified.
"You wanted to run, right?" Sam asked.
"Heck yes!" When didn't I want to run?
"Well, you get your wish; you're up to bat."
I jumped in the air excitedly and clapped my hands.  "Let's go!"
