Edward was pacing one side of my parents' living room, oblivious to my glare.  Jacob stood against the seafoam green wall directly across from Edward, smirking because he saw my glare and thought Edward was going to get an ear full.  Little did he know that I was tiring of both of their games and they were both going to get it if they didn't chill out and behave like adults soon.

"This can't continue, Kai." Edward finally stopped his pacing and turned to face me.  "I don't feel comfortable with you spending your weekend with them.  It drives me crazy with worry every time you do."

"And I don't feel comfortable in a house full of black eyed vampires," I shot back.  I felt a little bad about being so snippy with my friends, but we'd been through this all before many times.  He was just too protective to let it go.

Edward glanced over at Jacob, who's arms were crossed as he smirked at the pale vampire.  "It's not safe."

"And neither are you at this point," Jacob chimed in, making Edward growl.

"Not to go over this again for the eightieth time in two months, but you don't feel safe leaving me alone while y'all hunt, either.  So!  Either you leave me with the wolves or you leave me with the humans." I sank back into the couch and crossed my own arms stubbornly.

"I'll be okay for another week," Edward insisted, moving to sit beside me on the couch.

"No, you won't," I argued.  "Last time you tried that, you flew out of my window and nabbed a racoon from my backyard in the middle of the night."

His nose wrinkled at the memory and Jacob made a retching sound.

"We haven't hurt her yet, Sparkles," Jacob began, only to be interrupted by Edward's sharp voice.

   "Yet," He hissed.

"And we won't," Jacob snarled back before leveling his voice out again.  "We love her as much as your clan of bloodsuckers does.  She's like family to all of us.  Hell, she even makes Leah smile sometimes."

Edward shot to his feet again, his black eyes practically boring holes into Jacob's brain.  "She's our family."

"Yeah, well, we love her more than you do because guess what?  We don't freak out every time she visits your house.  We actually trust her, unlike you."

Edward's eyes narrowed and he opened his mouth to reply, but I cut him off.

"You know what?" I got to my feet and marched over to the doorway to the hall before a physical fight broke out in my living room and I had to explain the damage to my folks.  "How about this; I'm really sick of going through this every week.  I can take care of myself."

"No," Both guys objected in worried tones in sync, each taking a large step towards me.

I shook my head.  "I can't do it anymore.  I'd pretty much rather be eaten by Victoria at this point than sit through anymore of your arguments.  I get that you think I'm a little sister who constantly needs a babysitter, but I'm a grown woman who should be allowed to make her own choices." I shot Edward a look, causing him to avert his gaze.  "And I choose to be alone this weekend.  Edward, go hunting.  Jacob, enjoy the days off.  We can discuss this again on Monday, when you're in better moods."

Spinning on my heels, I marched up the staircase to my room at the top of the steps.  Then, to try and convince them that I was serious, I closed my door as loudly as I could without slamming it.  Once it was shut, I leaned my back against the wooden slab and closed my eyes with a sigh.  As much as I loved both of them, they really did act like children.  Why couldn't I be friends with both families?  It wasn't like either one was any more dangerous than the other.  Hell, if a vampire wasn't paying attention, they could snap my neck with their pinky finger!  Tell me how that was less dangerous than a werewolf with anger management issues that would at least give me a warning before snapping.
