Percy beat Annabeth to the dining pavilion. By the time she got there, he was already sitting at his table and drinking water. When he saw her, he waved teasingly and stuck his tongue out. Annabeth laughed and walked over to him.
"Well done, son of Poseidon," she says with a grin.
"Why, thank you, daughter of Athena," Percy says with a small bow from his place on his bench. Annabeth chuckled and waved as she walked over to her siblings. Percy smiled softly and rested his head on his hand. He looked around at the other demigods before his eyes went unfocused as memories of Tartarus flooded his mind.
Everyone smiled and talked as they ate. Eventually, everyone got up and went about their usual day. Jason walks over and clapped his hands together. "Ready to go, bro?" He asks, looking at Percy with a grin.
Percy didn't make a move to get up nor say anything. Jason's grin faded into a frown and he sits across the table from Percy. "Hey, Perce, you good man?" He looked into the unfocused and dazed eyes of his cousin and worry and confusion flooded his brain. Jason got up and looked around for Annabeth.
Jason was able to spot the grey-eyed Demigod walking over to the archery range. He looked at Percy before dashing over. "Annabeth!" He calls, running up to Annabeth and almost falling on his face. She blinks in surprise and sets her bow down.
"Hey, what is it? Where's Percy?" She asks with a frown.
"H-he's still in the dining pavilion. I-I think he-he's having a flashback again," Jason says breathlessly. Annabeth's eyes widen. She looks at Chiron pleadingly. He gives a nod and she's gone in an instant, running as fast as she could back to the dining pavilion.
Percy was sitting at his table, staring at nothing. Nico, Piper, Leo, and Will were all crowded around him, trying to snap him out of it. Annabeth comes over and sits next to Percy. She takes his hand and squeezes it, shaking his arm.
"Percy? hey, it's okay, seaweed Brain. We're not there anymore," She says softly, rubbing his arm. He clenches his fist tightly, his body starting to shake. The others looked at each other nervously. Will touched Percy's other arm and he flipped out.
He jammed his elbow into Will's stomach, causing him to cough and stumble backward. Nico catches him and helps him to stand upright. "Percy, calm down!" Nico says, gripping Will's arm. Percy pushes Annabeth off of the bench and she falls backward onto her butt with a grunt.
Percy stumbles to his feet and backs away, a terrified look on his face. 'oh, no,' Annabeth thinks as she gets up. "Hey, hey, Percy, it's okay," She says softly, slowly walking towards him. Percy whimpers and backs away more. Annabeth tried reaching for him and something in Percy snapped.
He lunged forward and tackled Annabeth to the floor, hands tight around her neck as he held her down with his body weight. Annabeth's eyes widen and she gasps and chokes, pulling at his hands. Will, Nico, Leo, and Piper all hurry over and attempt to pull Percy off of her only to get thrown away from them by a wave of water. Annabeth looks up at Percy with big, watery, bulging grey eyes.
"Percy!" She gasps out, clawing at his hands. Annabeth kicks her legs and pulls against his hands before her kicking started to die down and her arms started to go limp. "Please," She breathes. Percy blinked hard and shakes his head. The blank look in his eyes cleared and he widened his eyes as he jumped off of Annabeth. She coughed harshly and rolls over onto her side. Will rushes over to her and helps her into a sitting position, rubbing her back. Percy stares at Annabeth, two red handprints wrapped around her neck as bruises started to form. Percy's eyes filled with tears.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so so so sorry, I-" A tear fell down his face and he let out a choked sob before running off.
"P-Percy!" Annabeth exclaims before breaking out into a coughing fit.
"Deep breaths, Annabeth. Easy does it," He says gently, grabbing her some water and helping her drink it. Annabeth shakes her head and gets up, running after Percy. The door to Cabin 3 slammed shut and the lights turned off.
Percy slid down his door and put his head in his hands, sobbing quietly. Annabeth knocked softly. "Percy?" she asks softly. He sniffles.
"G-go away," he mumbles, pulling his knees to his chest.
"Seaweed Brain, I-" She starts.
"Go away!" he yells, the fountain in his cabin exploding. Annabeth flinches and backs away from the door a little.
"I'll always be here for you, Percy. Please, remember that," she says before running off. Percy started crying again, gripping his hair.
'Now, now. Just look at what you've done.' The voice in his head says mockingly. Percy growls.
"Shut. up." '
Poor, poor, Percy. Always screwing everything up. You can't even control your actions. Just hurting people day after day.' Percy grips his head, shaking his head.
'Let's face it, Percy. You're a screw-up. A mistake. Just put everyone out of their misery and end it. Give them what they want.'
Percy opens his mouth but stops. "You're r-right," He mumbles, hugging his knees.
'I knew you'd come around.'
Percy sniffles and looks out the window. "Well, guess this is my last day on Earth," he says as he watches Pegasi flying in the air and campers running around. "I'd better make it last."
I want to stress that if anyone has any thoughts such as the voice portrayed in Percy's head, please, ask for help. You're not alone and you don't need to make it that way. It's important to have a good, reliable support system.
Love you all so much!! <3<3<3
