After the couple was far away from the big house, Annabeth stopped and stood in front of her boyfriend with her arms crossed. "Well?" Annabeth asked, getting impatient with her boyfriend.

"Well, what?" the son of Poseidon asked innocently as he shoved his hands in his pockets.

"What happened back there? You told me they were getting better! Not worse! Percy, we talked about this! You have to talk to me. It's the only way we get through this." Percy just looked at his girlfriend, waiting for her to actually breathe. After she had visibly relaxed, Percy gently took his hands out of his pockets and uncrossed Annabeth's arms, and held her hands in his own.

"I'm sorry, okay? They have been getting better. I don't know what happened back there. Probably just a relapse or something. I'm okay, I promise."

'Liar' said a small voice in Percy's head. 'You're a liar. All you do is lie.' Percy chose to ignore the voice and focused on his girlfriend. His beautiful girlfriend.

"You promise that you'd tell me if you weren't?" Annabeth asked, eyeing Percy.

"Yes, of course, Wise Girl."

'Liar. Why are you lying to her? All you do is lie to her. She shows nothing but kindness and compassion and you do nothing but lie. You don't deserve her and you know it.' Percy had a sinking feeling in his gut. He was really trying not to listen to the voice but it was hard not to when everything it was saying was true.

That day, Annabeth did not see Percy again until lunchtime but he was busy talking to Jason so she didn't bother him. After dinner, Annabeth jogged over to her boyfriend who was making his way over to the campfire. "Percy! Wait up!" The daughter of Athena called out to her boyfriend. She saw Percy mutter something to Jason, then stopped and allowed Annabeth to catch up.

"What's up Wise Girl?" Annabeth caught up to Percy and they kept on walking, now at the back of the crowd.

"Just wanted to check up on you. You seem....tense? Are you okay?"

"Yeah Wise Girl I'm fine." Percy seemed a little exasperated but Annabeth continued to press.

"Are you sure? Do you want to talk about the flashback?"

"No, I'm fine. Can you just stop?"

"Percy, what's going on? You've been acting distant today. Did something happen?"

"Wha-no! Can you just drop it please?!" They were at the campfire by this point. Let's just say, people were staring.

"Percy I will not drop it! Something is up with you and I am worried! And as your worried girlfriend, I will not 'drop it' until I know what's going on!" Percy had his head hung and he was glancing at the other campers that were looking at the couple.

"Annabeth I said I'm fine!" Percy snapped. "It's none of your business what I saw. It's over. End. Of. Story." with that, Percy stormed off to his cabin and slammed the door behind him. Annabeth glared at the Half-Bloods surrounding her before storming off herself off to cabin 6.

Back in Cabin 3, Percy was pacing his cabin as the voice in his head droned on and on. 'Why did you yell at her?'

"I don't know," Percy muttered. "I got mad that she was pushing me."

'Why? You promised her that you would talk to her. But what are you doing? '

"I'm shutting her out."

'Yes, you are, but this is good! Distancing yourself from her is good. You don't deserve her. She is better off without you. Everyone is.'

 "I know."

'So, what are you going to do to help everyone around you? '

"I'll just stay away from them. Just stay in here. Where I can't bother anyone."

'That's right. They can spend their time with better things than you.'

 "y-yeah. I guess."

'But?'

"Annabeth told me to go see Will. I should listen to her. She cares about me. Not you."

'Or does she?'  That one hit a nerve.

"Yes, she does! That's why she was pressing me earlier! She was trying to get me to tell the truth that YOU told me to hide! I shouldn't even be listening to you!"

'Then why are you?'

"I-I..." To that, Percy had no answer. Little did he know that Nico Di Angelo and Will Solace were standing outside the Poseidon Cabin door, listening with wide eyes.
